Charcoal duck with Busan milmyeon in Gyeyang, Incheon: Ganaandeok

I was looking for somewhere to eat out with my family over the weekend and was craving duck, so we went to Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch. When dining out with a child, taste matters, of course, but I always check whether parking is easy and the restaurant is spacious too. It was a nice option for anyone looking for a family meal spot in Gyeyang, so I thought I’d share my review :)

Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch is a place where you grill duck over charcoal. We came by car, and having parking made it easy to park and head inside. When you’re out and about with a child, convenient parking really feels like a huge advantage.

A Spacious Dining Room for Family Meals

Once inside, the dining room was more spacious than I expected. Lots of other families were there for meals too, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed, so eating with a child did not feel stressful. I tend to prefer places with breathing room over cramped, busy restaurants when we dine out with a child, and we were able to eat comfortably this time.

Duck Dishes at Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch

Ganaandeok is a restaurant where duck is the main attraction, with a variety of other dishes to enjoy too.

🍖 Fresh charcoal-grilled duck is the most basic dish: duck you grill yourself over charcoal. Recommended if you enjoy clean, nutty-tasting grilled duck! 🔥 Smoked charcoal-grilled duck is a good choice if you love that distinctive smoked-duck flavor ✨ It tastes even better warmed over charcoal.

🥘 Marinated charcoal-grilled duck is seasoned duck grilled over charcoal! The sweet-spicy marinade goes so well with the charcoal aroma. 🍲 Duck soup is a warm broth dish with duck simmered for a long time, making it nice to enjoy alongside the meat as part of a meal.

🏺 Clay-pot duck roast is one of Ganaandeok’s signature dishes! The duck is roasted in a clay vessel, so it is different from regular grilled duck. 👨👩👦 If you visit as a family, it would be nice to order grilled duck according to your group size, add meal dishes, and share everything together :)

Wrap Vegetables and the Self-Serve Side-Dish Station

Once seated, the basic side dishes that go well with duck were neatly set out. 🥬 There were wrap vegetables, plus 🧅 onions, garlic, and other accompaniments, so we could enjoy the duck in lots of ways. The side dishes were all nicely presented and great to have one by one with the meat.

🥢 Extra side dishes are self-serve! If you run low while eating, there is a self-serve side-dish station where you can help yourself. It was nice to take only what we needed, and when eating as a family, we could grab more of whichever side dishes we wanted without feeling awkward 😊 When you eat with a child, you surprisingly often need to ask for one more side dish, so the self-serve station was convenient.

Fresh Duck, Marinated Duck, and Busan Milmyeon

We ordered fresh charcoal-grilled duck, marinated charcoal-grilled duck, and Busan milmyeon (cold wheat noodles). At last, the duck we ordered arrived!

As soon as we put the meat over the charcoal, it began sizzling and smelled so good. We grilled it until golden, took a bite, and loved duck’s distinctively nutty flavor. The charcoal gave it a subtle smoky aroma, and it was even better with the wrap vegetables.

Duck may seem like it would be fatty, but grilled over charcoal like this, it was nice and light.

Duck and Busan Milmyeon

🍜 Duck alone felt a little incomplete, so we ordered Busan milmyeon too. When you’re eating meat, a cool dish like naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) or milmyeon is just perfect, right? 😋 Taking a bite of chilled milmyeon while eating charcoal-grilled duck made my mouth feel refreshed! The clean, nutty taste of the meat worked so well with the cool noodles that I was glad we ordered them together.

🍖 Duck followed by 🍜 cool Busan milmyeon to finish! If you visit as a family, I recommend ordering one serving of Busan milmyeon as a meal dish to share with the duck 🤍

A Family Meal with Children and Parents

We came so we could eat together with my parents too, and I liked how comfortable the overall atmosphere was for a family meal. When eating out with a child, the restaurant’s space and ambience matter just as much as the menu, don’t they?

There were plenty of high chairs and children’s tableware, so it was a good place to visit with a child. Above all, my child ate really well that day, which was the most satisfying part for me as a mom, haha.

Charcoal-Roasted Sweet Potatoes for Dessert

And another thing I liked about Ganaandeok ✨ They had charcoal-roasted sweet potatoes ready for after the meal! They were warm sweet potatoes roasted over charcoal, perfect to eat one each for dessert after the meat. 🍖 After filling up on duck and then having 🍠 sweet roasted sweet potatoes, it felt like we had enjoyed every part of the meal right to the end! We took our time with dessert and spent a relaxed time with the family afterward.

I found out because they were delicious: the charcoal-roasted sweet potatoes are also sold separately! 🍠 They would be great as a snack after your meal, and if you love sweet potatoes, you might want to buy some to take home too 😊

My Take on This Gyeyang Family Meal Spot

Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch was satisfying overall: parking was easy, the restaurant was spacious, we could enjoy charcoal-grilled duck, and it was a good place for a family meal with a child.
