Why two of us went to a Hapjeong hanwoo restaurant built for groups

This time I went hunting for a hanwoo (Korean beef) restaurant near Hapjeong Station with a friend. No big reason — I just wanted proper beef and found this place while searching.

But once I got there, I kept thinking, "I should come back here for a work dinner." The vibe and the portions felt almost too good for just the two of us.

So today I'm sharing an honest review of Eutteum Aged Hanwoo No.9 Hapjeong Branch (으뜸숙성한우No.9 합정점), known as one of the hanwoo spots near Hapjeong Station.

Where Eutteum Aged Hanwoo No.9 Hapjeong Branch is and how big it is

If you're looking for a hanwoo restaurant among Hapjeong eateries, it's worth checking the location first. Come out of Hapjeong Station Exit 9 and walk straight along the main road — you'll see the Mapo Hangang Prugio Phase 2 commercial building. The restaurant is on the ground floor, so it wasn't hard to find.

With group seating for up to 20 people, it's easily spacious enough for a Hapjeong group dinner.

What is in the 165,000 won hanwoo special set?

We ordered the ₩165,000 hanwoo special set (600g), price as of our visit.

I assumed it would be just meat, but appetizer-style side dishes came out first, followed by the grilling cuts in order.

The portion felt a touch light for two women, and I think it would be just right for three. It was plenty satisfying for two of us, but if there were more people, adding a side dish would be a good idea.

For a Hapjeong restaurant — especially a hanwoo restaurant — I thought the price was reasonable.

What happens after you order

Once the meat was set out, staff explained each cut one by one. They also told us how to pair the sides, so there was never any confusion while eating.

The set includes tableside grilling, so there was no need to worry about how to grill it ourselves. The meat lineup was sirloin, oyster blade, chuck flap tail, skirt steak, and 100g of yukhoe (beef tartare).

Inside the restaurant: interior and seating

Eutteum Aged Hanwoo No.9 Hapjeong Branch felt more like a restaurant than a typical Korean BBQ joint — pretty and polished.

The center seats wrap around a counter, so it almost felt like sitting at a Japanese omakase counter.

Hanwoo grilled by the staff: a cut-by-cut review

Every table has its own grill, and staff do the grilling themselves, so there was zero worry about doneness.

The oyster blade was especially delicious.

The chuck flap tail was rich in fat overall with great beefy aroma.

They also grilled mushrooms and zucchini in between, and those were delicious too. At most Korean BBQ spots you have to grill it yourself, and depending on the situation you can end up burning or undercooking expensive meat. Here, since staff grill it for you, there's no worry about that at all.

Getting to taste it exactly as the restaurant intended was a big plus.

At group dinners there's often that awkward moment of who's going to grill — here there was none of that, which made things comfortable.

The house sauces and side dishes

The sauces that came on the side were really good.

In particular, the basil pesto and the house-made special fish sauce really brought out the flavor of the meat. The beef itself, being aged, had tender texture and a lot of juiciness too.

It's good enough dipped in just salt and wasabi, but the special sauces let you enjoy it in more variety.

The yukhoe also had great umami with the beef's characteristic flavor coming through nicely.

Why Eutteum Aged Hanwoo No.9 works for a group dinner near Hapjeong Station

It was satisfying even as a two-person visit, but Eutteum Aged Hanwoo No.9 Hapjeong Branch really felt more suited to a Hapjeong group dinner. Hapjeong is a neighborhood full of both dates and office workers, so atmosphere matters a lot there.

• Staff grilling keeps the group dinner mood going without interruption
• Corkage is allowed, which is easy on drink-loving groups
• A wide drink menu means there's something to pick based on preference
• With plenty of seating it also works fine as a Hapjeong family gathering spot, or as a stop on a Hapjeong restaurant tour

I kept thinking it would feel even better as a meal someone else is treating you to, rather than paying out of your own pocket haha.

Parking and how to get there

The building's underground parking made driving there fairly convenient. By public transport, it's a walk from Hapjeong Station Exit 9.

That was my review of Eutteum Aged Hanwoo No.9 Hapjeong Branch, a hanwoo restaurant near Hapjeong Station. Even as a casual visit with a friend, satisfaction was high, and I'd strongly recommend it if you're specifically looking for a group dinner spot near Hapjeong Station.

When I think of Hapjeong, I usually think of casual spots — tteokbokki, tacos, burgers — so I had no idea a place this upscale was hiding here. If you need a special date spot, or an occasion where someone's treating you to beef, save this one and give it a try.
