Post-Chuseok three-plate lunch for two at Gijang outlet: Bueokgan

Ahead of Chuseok, I went to Shinsegae Premium Outlets to buy some new clothes and gifts~ After I finished shopping, I was looking for somewhere to eat and found Bueokgan Restaurant (부엌간)!

The Bueokgan Chinese restaurant was so good last time that I went in with high expectations for this one too! This location is a Western restaurant~

Where Bueokgan is inside the Gijang outlet, and its hours

• Address: 1133 Jeonggwan-ro, 1F Unit 180, Jangan-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan, South Korea (across from the Daiso building, next to the WINE store)
• Hours: Mon–Thu 10:30–20:30 (last order 20:00) / Fri–Sun 10:30–21:00 (last order 20:30)
• Parking available (parking on the Daiso side is closer)
• Corkage: free for up to 3 bottles / ₩15,000 per bottle from the 4th

There's a break time from 15:00 to 16:00 on weekdays (except public holidays, so avoid visiting during that window!

An interior that doesn't feel like a mall, plus kid-friendly seats

Once you step inside Bueokgan Restaurant, it's designed so warmly you'd never guess it's inside an outlet mall~ Even the waiting area is a pretty space.

The restaurant is spacious and they have high chairs and kids' tableware, so it's great to go with children~ When we visited, there were a lot of tables with kids too! There are lots of children's clothing stores around Bueokgan, so it's convenient to come eat here after shopping~

I snapped this shot of the restaurant while it was quiet. Isn't it really spacious? A lot of the tables have wide spacing between them, so it's comfortable to eat here even with kids~ And on top of everything, they were thoughtful enough to bring out a suction-style plate for the kids!

Even though it's inside an outlet mall, the interior was so pretty! I loved the little design touches all around.

• Napa cabbage Caesar salad

• Truffle mushroom gnocchi

Truffle mushroom gnocchi: the winner of the day

First up, the dish I most wanted to try after researching this place — truffle mushroom gnocchi! I was surprised by the portion size the moment it arrived... You could eat and eat the mushrooms and they never seemed to run out. Does that mean there's less gnocchi? Not at all. Underneath it was all gnocchi..!!

Can you see how chewy it looks? The gnocchi was reeeally good! The cream sauce was thick and rich, and there was a ton of mushroom in it.

Napa cabbage Caesar salad

The napa cabbage Caesar salad was grilled just right, and the bacon chips, onion flakes, sun-dried tomatoes, and dressing all worked together so well — it was so good! I should try making this with napa cabbage at home next time~

Shrimp anchovy pasta

And the shrimp anchovy pasta was seasoned just right, and it was topped with five plump shrimp, which was great~

Why three plates were too much for two people

There were two of us, and everything looked so good that I think we got a bit greedy. Western food dishes usually come in smaller portions, so we ordered three including the salad — but the portions here were really huge! Amazing value for the price!! We chatted and ate as much as we possibly could, but in the end we had to leave a little behind... I nearly burst. So now, looking back at these photos, I keep thinking about the food we left behind...

I felt the same way at the Bueokgan Chinese restaurant — the portions here generally seem to be big! It's a brand I'm always satisfied with for the price~ Both the Chinese place and this Western restaurant are delicious!! If they added a Chinese location to the outlet too, I'd alternate between the two!! I hope it never disappears and stays here forever~

What I'd order next time at Bueokgan

Out of everything I ate today, the gnocchi is my number one!! Honestly, gnocchi can go wrong and lose that chewy texture at some places, but this one was really, really chewy. So I'll be back just for the gnocchi! Next time I'll have to try the lasagna and abalone cream risotto, which were unfortunately sold out today!

They have such a wide variety of menu items that it seems great to bring kids too! It's located in a corner of the outlet, so I never really noticed it before while walking past, but now I know exactly where to eat when I go to the outlet! They're also running a big Chuseok sale right now, so I'd recommend heading to the Jeonggwan Shinsegae Outlets to shop, pick up holiday gifts, and round off the day with a meal at Bueokgan Restaurant.
