Anyang sibling-run pho restaurant, quẩy dipped in broth: Pho Witch

I was looking for an Anyang date course today and ended up at Pho Witch, a famous Anyang pho restaurant. It had that unmistakable Vietnamese atmosphere but the food was still totally suited to Korean tastes — such a satisfying visit that I have to recommend it!

Pho Witch sits right in the middle of Pyeongchon Meokgeori-chon food street. It's near the Pyeongchon academy district, so a lot of students seemed to be dropping by too. Even the exterior gives off a strong exotic vibe~

Pho Witch isn't run by a couple — it's a pho restaurant run by a brother and sister! There was a cute intro board with their photo out front that caught my eye, haha.

Inside Pho Witch: the room and the self-serve bar

The moment I stepped inside Pho Witch, the same clean but exotic atmosphere as outside caught my eye. These days, tasty food matters, but so does whether a place is photogenic and comfortable to eat in — Pho Witch worked well for friends, family, and also felt like a good date spot.

There was a self-serve bar tucked in one corner of the restaurant, stocked with various sauces and side dishes to eat with the pho, along with plates and tea~

What we ordered at Pho Witch

Pho Witch's menu has a lot of variety, and we ordered the Siblings' Devoted Pho, nasi goreng, and quẩy! They said the spicy pho is the signature dish, so I want to try that flavor next time too, haha.

Receipt review and KakaoTalk Channel events

Pho Witch had several events running — if you leave a Naver receipt review, you get a mini spring roll or a quẩy.

Then the food we ordered arrived! The portions were way bigger than expected, haha, and with portions that generous, my expectations for the taste went up too!

Nasi goreng packed with seafood

The nasi goreng came out first, and it already looked pretty appetizing. Pho Witch's nasi goreng was loaded with plenty of seafood like cocktail shrimp and mussels, so I could enjoy the seafood alongside the rice to my heart's content.

With seafood packed in everywhere, every bite came with a shrimp or mussel to chew on, which I loved. The exotic spice flavors blended with the nutty taste unique to fried rice, and I was glad we'd ordered it alongside the pho.

How the Siblings' Devoted Pho broth tastes

And the dish that personally impressed me the most was, of course, the pho. Broth really is everything with pho, and Pho Witch's broth had genuine depth of flavor. It kept the unique character of Vietnamese food while never tasting too unfamiliar — a pho that felt just right for Korean tastes.

One sip of the warm broth and you could feel that subtle depth, and eating it with the noodles, I just kept going without feeling weighed down. Sometimes a bowl of pho at lunch leaves you hungry again soon after, but Pho Witch's portions were generous enough that I felt full afterward.

Quẩy, dipped straight into the pho broth

There was also a dish I was trying for the first time this time — a side dish called quẩy. At first I thought it was just a side to eat alongside the pho, but once I learned how to eat it properly, it turned out to be a real treat.

I dipped the quẩy deep into the pho broth, and as the warm broth soaked in, the deep flavor of the broth carried right through it. The crispy quẩy soaking up the rich pho broth made it far tastier than I expected. It was fun how completely different it tasted eaten plain versus dipped in the broth.

After enjoying the food, there was even a snack waiting for us on the way out, hahaha! You could feel how carefully they thought about every little detail~

Is Pho Witch in Anyang worth a visit?

The seafood-packed nasi goreng, the generous pho with its deep, rich broth, and the quẩy that soaked up that broth so well — every dish had its own charm. Best of all, you get to experience a slice of Vietnam's local atmosphere along with the food, which made it even more enjoyable!!
