Anyang pho restaurant open till 9pm, two spicy pho sets: Pho Witch

In short

Pho Witch is a sibling-run pho restaurant on Guin-ro 190beon-gil in Dongan-gu, Anyang, Gyeonggi. Arriving around 8pm after work, the writer and her husband ordered two sets — the sister-recommended spicy pho with pad thai fried rice, and the same spicy pho with bánh mì — and even in set size the pho came out almost as a full bowl. Pho Witch's spicy pho tastes like jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) but cleaner, good enough to cure a hangover.

Pho Witch, an Anyang pho restaurant visited at 8pm

After work, my husband and I went to Pho Witch, a pho restaurant that's supposed to be great in Anyang. Since we only got there after finishing work, we ended up eating a pretty late dinner, around 8pm!

Outside Pho Witch, an Anyang pho restaurant, in the evening

The outside of Pho Witch! There's parking for about 2–3 cars out front. Since we came late, we were lucky enough to park with plenty of room.

Sign at the entrance of Pho Witch noting it's run by siblings

Run by a brother and sister, not a couple

I burst out laughing at the sign! It said something like "we're not a couple"... it's actually run by a brother and sister! Just from the photos I assumed they were a couple too, haha. There was also a note about how to wait for a table — seems like a lot of people come here as an Anyang date spot for dinner.

The inside of Pho Witch! It's clean but somehow has a real local vibe. I went in the evening when it was a bit chilly out, but stepping inside I felt myself warming up right away!!!

Pho Witch menu and how to order

The menu and prices! The menu was way more varied than I expected, and the prices weren't as high as I thought. Ordering through the tablet lets you see more detail — you can pick options like spice level or cilantro, which was nice, and the set menus were good value.

Menu board with Pho Witch's dishes and prices

We came pretty late, but there were plenty of takeout customers as well as people dining in.

Our order!! The sister-recommended spicy pho + pad thai fried rice set, and the sister-recommended spicy pho + bánh mì set. We ordered set menus because we wanted to try a variety of dishes!!

What's at the Pho Witch self-serve bar

For the basic side dishes, they give you pickled radish and pickled onion, plus basic chili sauce and hoisin sauce. Sauce combo assembled, ready to eat!

For reference, the pickled radish, pickled onion, and sauces are all at the self-serve bar, so it was nice being able to grab extra whenever we wanted. There's also Vietnamese coffee and tea bags, which looked great for a little tea time after the meal!

How big is the pho in a Pho Witch set?

The dishes we ordered arrived!!! I was glad they didn't take too long to come out. If you're coming here as part of an Anyang date-night dinner, I'd totally recommend ordering set menus like we did to try a bunch of things! Because everything was delicious!!! haha

A bowl of sister-recommended spicy pho served as part of the set

I thought the portion would be small since it came with a set, but it was almost a full bowl!!!! Since I love spicy food, I dumped a generous amount of what I assume was pepperoncino flakes on top. For reference, the spicy pho is already somewhat spicy even without adding anything!

A full table with pho, pad thai fried rice, and bánh mì

Here's the whole spread! Every single dish looks amazing! The bánh mì, the pho, the fried rice — all of it!

Since this is an Anyang pho restaurant after all!! Let's start with the pho! Like I mentioned, this came with the single-person set, but look at that portion! It's not just a lot of noodles — there's also a generous amount of bean sprouts, meat, and vegetables piled in.

I tried a spoonful of broth first, and it really had a deep, rich flavor, spicy in just the right way. For reference, we asked for it to be made a bit spicier when ordering, and they also sprinkled on the pepperoncino for us. This felt like it would be perfect either as a drinking snack or as a hangover cure! I get why they sell beer here.

Spicy pho loaded with bean sprouts and meat
A spoonful of spicy pho broth lifted from the bowl
Pho noodles and meat lifted up with chopsticks
Pho meat dipped in chili sauce and hoisin sauce
Pickled onion served as a side dish
A bowl of spicy pho midway through the meal

There are a bunch of ways to eat it, but even just eating the plain noodles with meat, the broth itself is rich and spicy with enough seasoning that it's already delicious. If I had to describe the taste, it's similar to jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) but different — cleaner, and not too heavy. I kept scooping up more broth without meaning to. Dipping the meat in a mix of chili sauce and hoisin sauce made it taste even more savory.

The refreshing pickled onion is great to snack on in between like a side dish!!

Pad thai fried rice with big shrimp

Next up, the fried rice with big shrimp! It was fried nice and loose with a good charred flavor, and the plump, chunky shrimp had great texture and taste. I can't eat peanuts so I didn't mix them in, but my husband said the peanuts made it go together even better. Sweet and salty, so good. I thought sprinkling pepperoncino on this would be tasty too, but since the pho was already spicy, I stuck to enjoying this one for its own flavor!

A first bánh mì at Pho Witch: soft bread

Lastly, the bánh mì, which I'd never tried before~ It had charcoal-grilled meat, vegetables, and sauce inside, but the bread was what really got me — so good! I usually can't handle hard baguette-style bread, and I thought this would be like that, but it wasn't at all! And the sauce matched perfectly too. The bánh mì was so good I wanted to order another one, but there wasn't any room left after the pho and fried rice. T_T

Is Pho Witch worth a second visit?

This Anyang pho spot was seriously, seriously delicious. I think I'll think of this place every time I want pho. Highly, highly recommend it to anyone looking for a dinner spot for an Anyang date.

The table at Pho Witch after finishing the meal

We even did the little gacha draw on the way out! Definitely coming back next time!!!! Thanks for the meal!!
