Your resident bread-lover actually worked out hard for once (?). Straight after exercising, I went to get some protein at Dongbaek Hanokjip Charcoal Grill Butcher Restaurant~~!
Parking and the entrance at Dongbaek Hanokjip
Dongbaek Hanokjip Charcoal Grill Butcher Restaurant is on Eondong-ro in Giheung-gu, Yongin, and there's a big private parking lot right at the entrance. It opens at 11:30, but I got there at 11:20 and the lot was still plenty empty — good good! :)

Dongbaek Hanokjip Charcoal Grill Butcher Restaurant has a roomy parking lot, and the dining room is quite spacious too.
And!!! You can actually buy meat here too. 🤩🤩 Since they're known for their galbi and 1++ hanwoo, grabbing some meat to take home after your meal sounds perfect.
Ordering the ₩15,000 lunch special and finding a table
At Dongbaek Hanokjip you order via the tablet at the table, and we ordered two of the lunch special yukhoe bibimbap + doenjang jjigae sets at ₩15,000 each. haha
Beside the table there are utensils, tissues, plates and other tableware ready to grab.
This is the seat we ended up at! Somehow not what you'd expect from a BBQ place — such a fresh, green view 🙂
Sitting at the table, this is the view — it'd be amazing to sit here in spring or fall. haha The breeze was gently blowing that day too, so sitting by the open door felt cool and refreshing~~~
What is on the self-serve bar at Dongbaek Hanokjip?
There's a self-serve bar in front of the kitchen with wrap vegetables (perilla leaves, lettuce), garlic, bean sprouts, cabbage salad, kimchi, and onion. (Salad dressing too)
Right next to it are doenjang and various sauces :)
There's also a self-serve drinks corner next to the bar.
Three side dishes came out first — doenjang cucumber-pepper muchim, macaroni salad, and baek-kimchi (white kimchi) — while the cabbage salad we grabbed ourselves. haha Tasting the sides, I could tell right away this place would be exactly my style! Not too salty, not too strong — a healthy, clean flavor :)
How were the yukhoe bibimbap and doenjang jjigae?
Soon after, the lunch special yukhoe bibimbap + doenjang jjigae arrived.
The amount of vegetables and yukhoe in the bibimbap 👍👍👍 They didn't hold back on the perilla leaves and lettuce, and the amount of yukhoe was no joke either.
But the doenjang jjigae portion might be even more serious lol. The color of the stew, packed with vegetables, looked amazing 👏👏

The rice looked like it'd be nice and fluffy too, haha
They only put half a bowl of rice in and gave the other half to my boyfriend. After working out, finishing a full bowl felt like a waste (?) — think of all that exercise! lolol
Anyway, let's mix it up quick~~!

By the way, the more I look at it, the more I like this place? I'm basically a goat when it comes to loving salad veggies lol, so all these vegetables piled in make me sooo happy 👍👍
The glossy, shiny yukhoe bibimbap! One bite in, and it was truly clean and light through and through. haha I knew I'd love it~~! I already sensed it from the side dishes. Nothing overpowering or greasy about the flavor at all — it was so clean that you could really taste the ingredients themselves. This bibimbap let you taste everything: the soft texture of the yukhoe and egg, the fresh crunch of the perilla leaves and lettuce, and the nutty aroma and flavor of the perilla seeds.
And the combo of doenjang jjigae with the yukhoe bibimbap is just as essential together as egg and salt — they complement each other perfectly. haha
I ate it so happily I cleaned the whole bowl..! lolol
My boyfriend praised the bibimbap for being clean and light, and said the doenjang jjigae was one of the best he's had in a while. haha I'm the one who suggested we come here, so I'm feeling pretty proud :)
Is there a wait for weekday lunch in Giheung?
Seeing the Catch Table waiting kiosk, it seems there are times you do wait. haha And true enough, by the time we left just after 12, the place had gotten noticeably busy (and this was on a weekday lunch, too).
