So I go on curry outings now and then, and this time I heard there was an authentic Indian restaurant near Samseong Station that recreates the real flavors of India, so I went to check it out.

Today I'm sharing my review of India The Durbar Samseong Station Branch, a Samseong Station Indian restaurant where I got to enjoy a variety of curries and naan in an affordable set menu.

India The Durbar Samseong Station Branch is a 9-minute walk from Samseong Station Exit 4 😏👍 There's a Hyundai Department Store and COEX nearby too, so it makes for a perfect date course! 🤎

Looking at the lunch sets and special set menus, they seemed to pack in a good variety of curries, naan, and tandoori dishes at a relatively affordable price, so the value looked pretty good.

The basement entrance and the atmosphere inside

It wasn't hard to find — following the address, a red sign came right into view. At the entrance leading down to the basement level, statues with an unmistakably Indian vibe stood guard. Haha.

Inside, the seating was varied and spacious, so it looked good both for groups and for solo dining. Elaborate lights with a distinctly Indian feel hung from the ceiling — flashy but really pretty. ✨

Maybe because it was dinnertime, there were quite a few solo diners as well as families. Still, it felt noticeably quieter than lunchtime, so a weekday evening visit without a reservation seemed totally fine!

What's in the ₩45,000 India The Durbar Set B

We came without a reservation, and each table already had cutlery and a menu set out, so we just sat wherever there was an open seat. We ordered the India The Durbar Set B (green salad, boneless tandoori chicken, lassi, two curries — butter chicken and chicken tikka masala, naan, rice). Getting two kinds of curry for ₩45,000, with such a varied lineup, seemed like really good value. Once we ordered, they first brought out the basic side dishes, water, and the salad.

The green salad had sweet mango dressing drizzled on top, so it was deliciously sweet! That's what prompted us to order a beer too (great excuse, right).

Boneless tandoori chicken and lassi

Next came the tandoori chicken and lassi. The tandoori chicken was boneless, so it was easy to eat, and the spice aroma wasn't too strong, so it seemed like something anyone could enjoy without much fuss. It had a subtle smoky note along with a savory, salty flavor that went really well with the beer. 🍺

We ordered the plain lassi, and it tasted exactly like the yogurt drinks I had as a kid! Sweet yet tangy — so good!

Butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, and an extra butter naan

Finally, the naan and curries we'd been waiting for arrived! Wow, look at that spread. Haha.

The set comes with one plain naan, but since we love naan so much, we ordered an extra butter naan! The butter naan had a savory buttery aroma, and the surface was glistening with oil — delicious even eaten plain.

For curries, we ordered butter chicken and chicken tikka masala. The butter chicken was a soft, mild chicken curry blending tomato and cream, while the chicken tikka masala — a tandoori chicken curry — had more tomato and spice depth, so it tasted a bit richer than the butter chicken.

If butter chicken feels mild and soft, chicken tikka masala is more like an actual cur-! ry! flavor. Haha.

They gave us tongs and scissors so we could cut the naan instead of tearing it by hand! Piling curry and a big piece of chicken onto a torn-off piece of naan and taking a bite — so, so good. Haha.

I also love piling curry generously onto tandoori chicken, so I showed my friend, and from then on she kept eating it that way too. Haha.

Especially with the butter chicken's signature soft, savory flavor combined with the tandoori chicken, you get chewy texture plus a subtle smoky note, and it paired so well with the rich curry flavor — both the texture and taste were amazing.

Who should visit

For ₩45,000, we got to try a wide variety of Indian dishes including two curries, and everything was delicious, which made it really satisfying. 😁 Especially since the spice aroma wasn't overpowering, it seemed like a great place for people who aren't used to Indian food.
