This time, ahead of my younger sister's wedding, my mom's biggest headache... she had to wear a pretty hanging updo (혼주머리) as the bride's mother, so she'd been dutifully growing her hair out. But it hit that awkward in-between shoulder length that kept flying out every which way and became completely unmanageable — the cursed zone!! ㅠㅠㅠ
To make matters worse, whatever perm she'd had before had completely fallen out, so overall it looked so frizzy that my mom got upset every time she looked in the mirror ㅠㅠㅠ
For my mom, a true salon nomad, I figured this time I really needed to take her somewhere with solid ratings and real skill. After a storm of searching, I found the place — Heiro Jamsil Lotte World, a Jamsil hair salon that's serious about women's hair.

They offer 1 hour of free parking, but charges kick in after that, so if you're getting a long treatment like a perm, taking public transit might be smarter! If you're coming by transit, head from Jamsil Station exit 3 or 4 straight toward Lotte World Adventure!

Heiro Jamsil Lotte World has an overall calm vibe, and the private single-person shampoo room let us wash without worrying about anyone else's eyes on us — so comfortable!
The one who took on my mom's thin, limp, drooping hair that day was designer koi!
She's someone I booked after carefully checking Naver ratings and reviews, and the moment she saw my mom's hair condition, she pinpointed the problems like magic. Thin, lifeless strands that flew out in every direction the second they touched her shoulders — the worst possible combo, haha.
Since mom needed an updo for the upcoming wedding, we couldn't cut it too short, but she also needed it calm and manageable day-to-day. Considering both mom's face shape and the wedding schedule, koi recommended a light layered cut followed by a root perm plus magic straightening together.
How the layered cut, root perm and magic setting were done
Right after the consultation, we went straight into the cut! She neatly tidied up the messy, flyaway ends with a very delicate layered cut.
The limp, flat top section got a serious volume boost with the root perm,
and the messy curl and frizz were smoothed out calmly with magic straightening, while natural curl was added toward the ends!
They even brought coffee so we wouldn't get bored during the process.

Before the treatment, the thin, limp hair sagged sadly and looked kind of shabby,
but thanks to the root perm, the flattened top sprang back to life with gorgeous volume, hahaha. On top of that, the awkward flyaway length got totally tamed thanks to the sleek layered cut and magic straightening!

The letdown: quoted root perm price vs. the final bill
Since this is a genuine review, let me be honest about the one thing that bugged me ㅠㅠ There was a difference between the root perm price I was quoted at booking and the amount charged after the service was done, so we ended up paying extra on the spot ㅠㅠ
We were never notified about this beforehand at booking, and it wasn't even because of extra length — the explanation was a "change in head office policy"... ??????? Suddenly...? Why would head office policy suddenly change within a week?
Honestly, that's a hard reason to accept as a customer, and since the service had already been done, we just paid, but it left a bit of a sour, disappointed feeling... Of course the results turned out great, but if you're planning to visit, double-checking the price beforehand should make for an even better experience!
Is Heiro Jamsil Lotte World worth it? Final verdict
Despite that letdown, thanks to the meticulous 4-hour process, my mom now styles her hair well at home with her Dyson Airwrap, haha.
