Goseong pork galbi with Tabling room booking: Yongchon Gogi-jip

In short

Yongchon Gogi-jip is a pork galbi (marinated pork rib) restaurant on Yongwon-ro in Toseong-myeon, Goseong, Gangwon. Arriving at 5pm, right as the weekday break time ended, three tables were already seated, and by the time we left the Tabling waitlist had closed and the parking lot was full. Two servings of seasoned pork galbi and hoe-naengmyeon (cold noodles with raw fish) for dessert made a solid meal, but book through Tabling in advance if you want one of the room seats.

Today I'm bringing you a review of Yongchon Gogi-jip, a restaurant I found during a trip to Goseong, Gangwon that seemed to be full of locals only. It's about 10 minutes by car from major Sokcho tourist spots like Sono Felice Delpino and Kensington Resort, making it a perfect stop on a Sokcho-Goseong trip itinerary. It's not a seafood restaurant despite the coastal area, but a pork galbi place — still, if you're planning a Goseong trip, I highly recommend it, so let me give you the honest review right away!

Where is Yongchon Gogi-jip, and what are its hours and break time?

Yongchon Gogi-jip is located at 20-3 Yongwon-ro, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do. Hours are Fri–Sun 11:00–21:00, Mon/Tue/Thu 12:00–21:00, with a break time from 15:00–17:00, and it's closed every Wednesday.

Even on weekends there's a break time — once you see below, you'll understand why it needs one, haha. It sits right along the route from Sokcho toward Ulsanbawi Rock or Ayajin Beach, so it's very convenient for planning your route.

Is parking easy at Yongchon Gogi-jip?

Yongchon Gogi-jip has a large dedicated parking lot right in front of the restaurant, so there's no need to worry about parking at all.

Weekday wait: why a Tabling booking is essential

We arrived right as break time ended, and three tables were already seated... True to its reputation as a Goseong local favorite, the place filled up completely right after 5pm even on a weekday, and by the time we left, the wait was pretty long.

Haha... this photo was taken as we were leaving, and Tabling reservations were already closed! If you're planning to visit, please book ahead through Tabling!!!!

Hall and room seating at Yongchon Gogi-jip

Room or main hall — which seats will you get?

The interior has both a room and a hall. The room has about five 4-person tables, and the hall has quite a lot of tables too. Guests with prior reservations are guided to the room first, so I think it's better to book ahead if you want to eat comfortably.

Menu and portion sizes at Yongchon Gogi-jip

Here's the menu. Pork galbi comes at 250g and fresh pork belly at 200g per serving, so the portions were generous and great value.

What side dishes come with the meal?

Here are the basic side dishes: green onion kimchi, pickled perilla leaves, pickled onions, dongchimi (radish water kimchi), shredded green onion, and lettuce wraps. It's a solid lineup of banchan that pair well with the meat, and steamed egg comes as standard too.

Two servings of seasoned pork galbi and the two-serving minimum

What we ordered first was the seasoned pork galbi for two. For the first order, you can order 2 or more servings of the same item, and additional orders can be made one serving at a time.

The seasoned galbi at Yongchon Gogi-jip was a bit different from the galbi I usually eat. Instead of an artificial-tasting sweetness, there's a subtle sweetness — I wondered if they use fruit in the marinade. It's a clean flavor that kids and parents alike would enjoy without any complaints. There were actually a lot of older guests there too!

We also ordered naengmyeon (cold noodles), which is essential with pork galbi. Even ordered as a dessert-sized portion, it came with plenty of toppings and volume. The combination of pork galbi with the spicy-tangy hoe-naengmyeon sauce makes for a clean finish, so I recommend it.

Even if you're not a fan of naengmyeon, white rice with seasoned galbi... you just can't resist it... I want to eat it again ㅜㅜ

Is Yongchon Gogi-jip good for eating out with kids?

It's close to major Sokcho and Goseong resorts, and with a large parking lot and baby chairs available, it seems like an easy place to visit for a family meal with kids or as a stop on a trip.

They even have vending machine coffee for while you wait or for after your meal!

By the time we finished eating and walked out, the parking lot was already full.... Great food, friendly service, easy parking, baby chairs, and above all, fantastic meat and side dishes — Yongchon Gogi-jip! I recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Goseong ☺️
