Parking and atmosphere

Dwaeji Gongbang is located in the Okgil-dong area of Bucheon, so it was easy to find. There's parking right in front of the restaurant, which made it less of a hassle to visit by car.

I was worried it might be busy with a wait, but instead of the usual chaotic Korean BBQ vibe, it had a calm, clean atmosphere that I really liked.

The warm wood-tone interior made it comfortable to chat and eat slowly with family. I thought it'd be a pretty comfortable spot for anyone looking for a good BBQ restaurant in Okgil-dong, Bucheon.

Dwaeji Gongbang menu: what cuts are available

Looking at the menu, there was more than just regular pork belly — pork neck, rib meat, jowl, and other various pork cuts.

You can try both Iberico and Korean pork, and there's a wide variety of special cuts, so meat lovers can pick according to their taste. This place is especially known for its Iberico pork, and since I love Iberico myself, I really wanted to try it here.

While looking for a good BBQ restaurant in Okgil-dong, Bucheon, I liked that I could try Iberico and several cuts all at once, so that's why I decided to visit.

Grill and basic table setting before ordering

What we ordered: mixed half-platter 500g

We ordered the mixed half-platter 500g and a bowl of rice.

The mixed half-platter 500g served on a plate

The meat we'd been waiting for finally arrived, and just the color of the neatly arranged plate looked really appetizing. The thickness seemed just right, so it seemed like the juices would hold up well once grilled, and each cut looked a bit different in shape, which made it fun to pick and try one by one. This mixed platter included pork neck, rib meat, jowl, belly, and more, so we got to compare several different textures.

As the meat hit the grill, it sizzled and gave off a savory aroma — and that alone made me hungry already haha. Watching the meat turn golden brown, I couldn't wait to try a piece.

Starting with the Iberico pork neck

First I tried the well-grilled pork neck — the outside was nicely browned while the inside stayed moist.

With the first bite, I could taste the clean flavor and a subtle meaty aroma first, and the savoriness built up more as I chewed.

Above all, it wasn't dry at all — the juices were moist, so even the neck cut was tender and easy to eat. It really confirmed that this place is worth seeking out as a good BBQ restaurant in Okgil-dong, Bucheon; the meat itself was that good.

The chewy rib meat was delicious too

The rib meat had a chewy texture that was totally different from the neck — appealing in its own way. There was definitely some bite to it, but it never felt tough, and the savory flavor came through strongly.

It was tasty dipped lightly in salt, and eating it with the chive salad or other sides gave the meat's flavor a different dimension each time. Since each cut had such a different texture, it was much more fun picking and eating several cuts than sticking to just one.

Sides that paired well with the meat

The basic side dishes also went well with the meat. Wrapping a piece of meat in lettuce with a bit of chive salad on top made for a crisp, clean bite.

Dipping the meat in myeoljeot (salted fermented anchovy sauce) added a savory saltiness that made the meat's flavor even richer.

You could keep grabbing more side dishes from the self-serve bar, and grilling extras like aged kimchi and mushrooms alongside the meat was nice for switching up the flavor here and there.

The included spicy soft tofu stew

While eating the meat, I also had a spoonful of the spicy soft tofu stew that came included, and it was warm and spicy in a way that paired well. Eating meat alone can get a bit greasy after a while, but a spoonful of the broth in between cleaned the palate right up.

Overall, this was a place where I could enjoy everything from the meat to the side dishes. If you're looking for a good BBQ restaurant in Okgil-dong, I'd recommend Dwaeji Gongbang Bucheon Okgil-dong Main Branch :)
