Gwanghwamun beef noodle lunch with xiaolongbao and shumai: Cheonghwa
In short
Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon is a Chinese restaurant built around beef noodles at 19 Jongno, near Gwanghwamun and Jongak Station in Seoul. A self-described beef noodle fan ordered uyuk dosakmyeon (knife-cut beef noodles) with xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) and shrimp shumai for lunch, pairing the rich broth with dim sum. Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon is an easy switch to noodles when the usual Gwanghwamun lunch rotation gets repetitive.

Hi, I'm a restaurant collector. As a beef noodle enthusiast, I'm excited to introduce a really solid spot today.

Tired of the usual Gwanghwamun lunch? Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon
Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon (청화 우육도삭면) is a Chinese restaurant at 19 Jongno, Jongno-gu, Seoul, specializing in beef noodles. When picking a lunch spot in Gwanghwamun, I sometimes crave something hearty like Korean food, gukbap (soup with rice), or noodles. This day I wanted something a bit different, so I visited this beef noodle spot known well among Gwanghwamun regulars.

As the name suggests, this place lets you enjoy a variety of Chinese dishes centered around beef noodles. Their signature dish, uyuk dosakmyeon (knife-cut noodles in rich beef broth with tender beef), made for a great lunch choice.
Walking into the restaurant, the atmosphere was clean and comfortable overall — great for solo dining, an office worker lunch, or a casual meal with colleagues. It's a low-pressure spot for Gwanghwamun office workers on their lunch break, and a good fit for anyone hunting for Gwanghwamun lunch spots.
What I ordered that day was dosakmyeon, xiaolongbao, and shrimp shumai.
What the uyuk dosakmyeon broth and knife-cut noodles taste like
First up, the main dish I ordered — uyuk dosakmyeon. From the first sip, I could taste the rich broth flavor, but it wasn't overly heavy, which I liked.

With beef noodles, the broth is what matters most. The deep flavor from the beef paired well with the noodles, and the more I ate broth with noodles together, the better it tasted.
The noodles soaked up plenty of broth while still keeping a good chew, making them easy to slurp down. Combined with the tender beef mixed throughout, a single bowl felt quite filling.
The beef was softer than I expected, and the texture worked really well when eaten together with the noodles. Rather than a spicy, punchy style of beef noodles, this was more of a comfortable dish where you enjoy the rich broth flavor — which made it all the more appealing as a lunch option.
Juicy xiaolongbao and shrimp shumai on the side
I can't skip the xiaolongbao I ordered alongside the dosakmyeon at Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon.

Packed with juicy broth inside thin wrappers, you have to pick them up carefully with chopsticks. There was fun in the eating process just from watching the broth spill out when you pierce them slightly.
Eating one while still warm, the moist broth blended with the clean flavor of the filling, making it a great side to pair between bites of beef noodles. If the beef noodles are all about broth and noodles, the xiaolongbao added a different texture and flavor — I was glad I ordered them together.
Lastly, the shrimp shumai. I personally love dim sum with shrimp in it, so I had high expectations, and the plump, springy shrimp texture came through nicely. Bite-sized and easy to eat, with the clean yet savory flavor characteristic of shrimp, it paired well with the xiaolongbao too.

All three dishes in one lunch: the verdict
Even ordering just the uyuk dosakmyeon alone would be filling, but ordering xiaolongbao and shrimp shumai alongside it added the fun of sharing several dishes, making for an even more satisfying meal. Overall, Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon felt like a great place to visit in Gwanghwamun when you want to enjoy rich beef noodles together with dim sum.

It was a solid choice especially for when the usual Gwanghwamun lunch menu gets repetitive and you want to switch things up with beef noodles. A hearty bowl of uyuk dosakmyeon, plus the xiaolongbao and shrimp shumai, was more than enough for one meal.
On a day when you're craving something different in Gwanghwamun, it's worth trying the dosakmyeon and dim sum together at Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon, a well-known beef noodle spot in the area. Next time I visit, I'd like to add a few more dishes and share them with a group.
