Sammi Bossam three cuts at Kkankkanhan, a Gwangju bossam restaurant
In short
Kkankkanhan Jokbal Yongbong Branch is a jokbal (pork trotter) and bossam (boiled pork wrap) restaurant at Jeoncheolu intersection in Yongbong-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju. Adding 3,000 won to the half-and-half menu brings the new Sammi Bossam, served with three cuts — pork belly, pork jowl and gabri-sal (pork shoulder blade) — and with the charcoal-grilled jokbal alongside it was too much for two and plenty for three. Kkankkanhan Jokbal Yongbong Branch is a solid choice for a family dinner or a group get-together.

Among the jokbal spots in Yongbong-dong that keep earning steady love, I finally tried Kkankkanhan Jokbal's Sammi Bossam, which lets you enjoy pork belly, pork neck, and gabri-sal all at once. Here's my review!

Where is Kkankkanhan Jokbal Yongbong Branch, and what are the hours and parking?
Kkankkanhan Jokbal Yongbong Branch is at 82 Yongbongtaekji-ro, Buk-gu, Gwangju (Yongbong-dong 1389-1), at Jeoncheolwoo intersection, and it's open 16:00–23:30. There's no dedicated parking lot, so you'll have to park in the alley — if you're just picking up a takeout order, it's best to stop briefly in front of the store and grab it quickly.

Hi there :) it's 47 minutes ago. On a Saturday, right after finishing up my car maintenance nearby, my favorite restaurant happened to be just around the corner, so I headed there with my younger sibling for dinner — Kkankkanhan Jokbal, my go-to jokbal spot in Yongbong-dong.

How much is Sammi Bossam? 3,000 won extra on the half-and-half menu
Kkankkanhan Jokbal's new Sammi Bossam can be ordered by adding ₩3,000 to the half-and-half menu. This place gets a lot of family visits with kids, and that day was no exception. My sibling told me they've been coming back lately just for the new Sammi Bossam, so without hesitation I went with the half-and-half option. If you want to try two things at once, I'd recommend ordering half-and-half.

What comes free: eomuk-tang, steamed egg and salad
The basic side dishes here are generous enough to hold their own as a Yongbong-dong soju bar spot — you could easily polish off a bottle of soju on the sides alone. The eomuk-tang (fish cake soup) has a spicy but clean broth, and the steamed egg is great for kids if you're visiting as a family. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the Kkankkanhan salad, and when eating the spicy jokbal, the salad helps cut through the heat — the spicy jokbal plus salad combo is just too good.

Saturday dinner at Kkankkanhan Jokbal: arrive before 6pm
Knowing it would be packed on a Saturday, I made sure to arrive before 6pm. As dinnertime rolled around, the place filled up with takeout and delivery orders as well as group after group in the dining room. Turnover was fast, and the food came out quickly after ordering — a table piled high and full.

On top of that, just by joining the review event you can get a free spicy mini jokbal — the kind of spicy that's great for blowing off steam, and even I, who can't handle spice well, love it.

How big is the portion? Too much for two, plenty for three
We didn't order the side dishes like makguksu (buckwheat noodles) or rice balls, so I figured two of us could easily manage a half-and-half order. But the portions turned out to be way more than expected — plenty even for three people.

Charcoal-grilled jokbal that is easy to share with kids
The charcoal-grilled jokbal has an appealing subtle smoky flavor along with chewy skin and tender meat, making it a crowd-pleaser for all ages. If you're visiting with a child, ordering the charcoal jokbal is a safe bet — they tend to eat it up. When I visit with my toddler, I cut the lean meat into small pieces for them and they eat it really well.

Inside Sammi Bossam: pork jowl, gabri-sal and pork belly
This new Sammi Bossam also comes with bossam kimchi to eat alongside the meat.

Made with pork neck, gabri-sal, and pork belly, this bossam is noticeably more tender and delicate, with a nutty richness — a trio of cuts that's practically destined to make great bossam, melting in your mouth. Whenever the richness of the meat starts to build up, pairing it with kimchi and peppers is a perfect match.

It would've been perfect with soju, but I made do with a cup of Sprite instead. This is a great spot for a family dinner or a group get-together, so if you want to properly enjoy jokbal and bossam, head to Kkankkanhan Jokbal, the go-to jokbal restaurant in Yongbong-dong!
