Gongdeok madeleine café: lemon coating and yuzu filling, Fluffy Bake

My son really loves madeleines. He's especially crazy about the madeleines from Biscuiterie MO, which I've posted about before, so I honestly thought I'd never find a madeleine that beats those.

But surprise! On my way home after finishing up some work outside the office, I had the good fortune to stop by Fluffy Bake Shop and meet a truly delicious madeleine. I was just looking for a light dessert, but the lemon madeleine, the yuzu madeleine, and the salt bread were all so good I had to share them.

Lemon-coated madeleine: a hit from the first bite

One of the things I tried this time was Fluffy Bake Shop's lemon-coated madeleine. The sweet, nutty flavor of the madeleine paired with the brightness of lemon was really delicious.

I love madeleines and have tried them at many places, but the moment I took a bite of this one, I immediately wanted to feed it to my son. I was a little worn out on my way back from working outside the office, but you know that moment when one good dessert just lifts your mood? For me that day, this lemon madeleine was exactly that.

The yuzu-filled madeleine is worth adding too

Another one I remember well is the madeleine with yuzu filling. Where the lemon madeleine's charm was the coating on the outside, the yuzu madeleine's highlight was the filling you meet on the inside with the first bite. The fragrant, tangy flavor of yuzu made it, and I really enjoyed this one too.

Since I love Biscuiterie MO's madeleines so much, I don't get easily impressed elsewhere. But I think I'll keep thinking about Fluffy Bake Shop's lemon madeleine and yuzu madeleine. It feels like I now have one more place to come back to whenever I'm craving a madeleine — haha.

How was the salt bread at Fluffy Bake Shop?

The salt bread I had along with the madeleines at Fluffy Bake Shop was satisfying too. Since it's a baked goods specialty shop, I expected the most from the madeleines, but with the salt bread being this good, I got curious about the rest of the menu.

Next time I visit, I want to try the financiers and canelés I didn't get to this time. Taking home a madeleine and salt bread combo to enjoy at home sounds great too, right? Popular items can sell out later in the day, so if there's a specific dessert you want, it's worth coming a bit earlier.

Worth remembering if you love madeleines

Thanks to my son's love of madeleines, I've naturally ended up hunting down good ones myself. I was really glad to discover Fluffy Bake Shop this time.

The lemon-coated madeleine and yuzu-filled madeleine especially stuck with me as menu items I want to eat again, and the salt bread was delicious too.
