Where is Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun and what are its hours?

Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun is a bakery café spanning the 1st to 3rd floors at 17 Mugyo-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul. It's about a 10-minute walk from Exit 4 of City Hall Station.

⏰ Hours: Daily 8:00-21:00 (last coffee order at 8:30 PM)

• The 1st floor has a fragrant coffee bar and relaxed seating
• The 2nd floor is arranged with tables of various sizes and shapes, great for friends, family or a date. Outlets for computer and laptop work are well set up, and there's a large table for group parties too.
• The 3rd floor is a special Fritz Hansen lounge presented in partnership with the world-renowned Danish furniture brand Fritz Hansen — a space that can be booked for meetings, community gatherings and group rentals. Cultural and meaningful events are planned to be held here every month.

A place to rest between City Hall and Cheonggyecheon

It's an easy 10-minute walk from City Hall Station. Since it occupies an entire building, the upscale café caught my eye from far away and was easy to find. Cheonggyecheon stream is right nearby, so you can take a stroll, and by the time you've walked a while, you'll be craving an iced Americano.

It's almost surprising how calm and upscale it feels, right in the middle of the city.

Inside the Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun bakery case: madeleines and pain au chocolat

The 1st floor showcase at Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun is lined with a wide variety of items, like the chausson aux pommes (apple + caramel).

The madeleine, Lemangdoré's signature menu item, is apparently recognized enough in quality to have been given as a VIP gift by the Italian fashion house Gucci. There's no way you can skip the madeleine here!

My favorite, pain au chocolat. The crispy outside and rich chocolate make a fantastic combo — you have to try this!

What coffee can you order at Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun?

Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun also has a wide selection of single-origin specialty coffees. You can order everything from hand drip (hand brewing) to espresso, various non-coffee drinks, and even decaf. I chose a bean that's nutty with less acidity — an iced Americano ♥️

Second-floor window seats: city life through floor-to-ceiling glass

After ordering coffee on the 1st floor, going up to the 2nd floor reveals a whole different space. I took a window seat enjoying the busy downtown streets through the open, floor-to-ceiling windows. It's also a great place to sit alone and just think.

Outlets for computer and laptop work are well installed, so there were many people sitting alone, and there are various table sizes including big ones.

Tasting the signature red berry madeleine

So cute and dainty. Nutmeg financier (₩4,000), red berry madeleine (₩4,500).

Packed with chunky chocolate chips. It wasn't a small size, but I ate it all up in no time. Genuinely delicious🩷

I'm so happy. Who knew bread and a coffee could make you feel this good.

The madeleine speaks for itself! As their signature representative item, it's really on a whole different level of taste :) Next time I definitely want to try the pistachio cream croissant too!
