Gangnam Seoul Korean BBQ with kids and public parking: Giun

In short

Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch is a charcoal-grilled pork restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul, a 10-minute walk from Gangnam Station Exit 4 and 1 minute from Full Gospel Gangnam Church. The writer went with her child and ordered the basic Giun Set, which arrives as three separate cuts and is grilled at the table by staff, so parents can keep their attention on the kid. Mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) and Asahi draft beer close the meal, and although Giun has no on-site parking, Yeoksam 1-dong Culture Center public parking lot is a 5-minute walk away.

Whenever I'm stuck picking a meeting spot around Yeoksam-dong in Gangnam-gu, there's one place I keep coming back to — the charcoal-grilled pork specialist Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch. This visit was, once again, a can't-miss choice, so I'm writing it up.

Where is Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch? 10 minutes from Gangnam Station Exit 4

The address is 836-79 Yeoksam-dong, 1st floor, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. It's about a 10-minute walk from Gangnam Station Exit 4, and roughly the same from Yangjae Station Exit 3.

It's 2 minutes on foot from Yeoksam Elementary School and 1 minute from Yoido Full Gospel Gangnam Church (apparently it's a well-known spot among the church crowd, haha!), so using nearby landmarks makes it easy to find.

Parking near Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch

The restaurant itself has no parking, so I parked at the Yeoksam 1-dong Culture Center public parking lot and walked over in under 5 minutes. Luckily, since it was the weekend, there were plenty of open spots.

The walk was practically effortless, so I'll probably use this same route again. If the way there is confusing, the restaurant staff are apparently happy to give directions — just call ahead.

What comes in the Giun Set: three cuts of pork

This time we ordered the most basic option, the Giun Set, and if I had to sum it up in one line: 'a lineup that never gets boring.'

Since the cuts come divided into three types, I got to enjoy shifting flavors throughout the meal,

and the thickness of the meat was neither too thin nor too thick — just right, hitting both a satisfying chew and juiciness at once. What stood out especially was how the juices ran with every bite.

Giun is known for visiting the slaughterhouse directly to select the meat, and aging each cut for a different length of time. It genuinely tasted exceptional — I guess that's the secret.

Eating the set in person, I understood exactly why they manage aging time differently for each cut. The difference in texture and flavor between the cuts was unmistakable.

Why Giun is easy with a child in tow

And best of all, the staff grill the meat for you. No need to worry about timing the grill — you can focus entirely on conversation and drinks, which made it such a relaxed choice for a get-together. Since I had my kid with me this time, both my husband and I could focus entirely on her — honestly the best dining-out spot!

Grilled vegetables and side dishes: minari and zucchini

The vegetable spread that came with it was solid too. I personally love grilled vegetables, and the minari (water dropwort) and zucchini were especially good!!

The vegetables, smoky from the charcoal, did a great job cutting through the richness when eaten alongside the meat.

Apparently Giun makes all its side dishes and sauces in-house, except for the myeongi namul (mountain garlic leaves), wasabi, and salt — which might explain why everything tasted so clean and refined without being overly seasoned.

Finishing with mul naengmyeon and Asahi draft beer

After working through most of the meat, we ordered mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup), and the tangy-sweet broth really revived our appetite.

That classic routine of finishing a BBQ meal with naengmyeon never disappoints.

And one thing you can't leave out here — the Asahi draft beer.

The crisp, refreshing feel going down paired perfectly with the richness of the Giun Set. I personally love Korean BBQ spots that serve Asahi draft, and this pairing alone is reason enough to come back.
