An Indian curry restaurant near COEX and Samseong Station

Today, I visited India The Durbar Samseong Station Branch, a great Indian curry spot near COEX and Samseong Station :) Looking at the exterior, it will be very easy to find the restaurant haha.

Exterior of India The Durbar Samseong Station Branch

The exterior makes quite a bold impression, and taking a closer look, the Indian curry and Indian-style signage were so flashy.

The signature dishes and prices are listed, so they can be a little helpful when choosing what to order!!

Signature menu and price information

India The Durbar is in the basement, so you can head downstairs via the stairs. The statue of an Indian person at the entrance is another eye-catching point haha (A restaurant truly committed to its concept.... lol)

Basement restaurant entrance and statue

Once inside, you can see that the interior is quite different from a Korean restaurant!! (It kind of feels like you have come to a restaurant abroad....? haha)

Indian-themed restaurant interior

The Taj Mahal sign on the wall, one of India’s representative landmarks, also caught my eye, and the ceiling lights had an Indian-themed look that you do not usually see. The restroom is inside the restaurant, which is convenient!! Since curry can easily splash onto your clothes, disposable aprons were well stocked too.

Restaurant seating and tables

Looking at the seating, there were spaces set up for two and others for four, so it seems good to choose a table based on your group size :) The tables have cutlery, tablecloths, cups, wet wipes, and tissues, and I also noticed a sign saying they give you naan for leaving a receipt review haha.

You can order by scanning the QR code on the table haha.

The A Set and garlic butter naan we ordered

  • A Set, per person: ₩18,000
  • Garlic butter naan: ₩4,000
  • Terra beer: ₩6,000
Kimchi, pickled yellow radish, and jalapeño side dishes

These are the side dishes that come out before the meal. They provide kimchi, danmuji (pickled yellow radish), and jalapeños to cut through any richness!!! 👍👍

A Set, per person

A Set for one person

We each ordered an A Set!! The A Set includes naan, rice, lassi, chicken tikka, green salad, and a choice of curry—palak paneer, chicken masala, or chicken makhani.

Food included in the A Set

First, I chose chicken makhani for my curry. If you are worried about the taste of Indian curry, this is the safest choice haha.

Chicken makhani curry

The green salad that came with it had a mango-syrup base, and its sweetness was delicious haha.

And this is lassi, a traditional Indian yogurt drink. It might be easiest to think of it as a yogurt version of Greek yogurt.

The set comes with plain naan, so if you would like a naan with a different flavor, you can add one :)

Plain naan included with the A Set

Then you tear off the naan and dip it into the curry. You can think of chicken makhani as chicken + butter + curry ☺️☺️

Naan and chicken makhani curry

My dining companion ordered chicken masala for their curry. You can think of this one as a slightly spicier version of chicken curry.

Chicken masala curry

It looks different from the chicken makhani too. When you scoop into it like this, you can see chunks of chicken inside.

Curry with chunks of chicken

The chicken pieces that came with it were really delicious too. You can think of them as charcoal-grilled seasoned chicken.

Chicken tikka pieces from the A Set

They were plump and just a little spicy, which was so nice lol. Dip the naan right in, or mix it with rice, and you can finish a whole bowl in no time haha.

How big is the garlic butter naan?

Large garlic butter naan

We wanted to try a naan with a different flavor, so we ordered the garlic butter naan. First of all, it is unbelievably huge.... lol. You can cut it into easy-to-eat pieces, but be careful because freshly baked naan is very hot ㅠㅠ

Garlic butter naan dipped in curry

We dipped the garlic butter naan in the curry too. The aroma of garlic and the sweetness of butter were mixed just right, and honestly it was much tastier than regular naan haha. Adding the chewy garlic butter naan to the generously composed A Set and finishing with a cold Terra beer made for a perfect food journey haha. The deeply flavored curry with a real local feel and naan freshly baked in a tandoor were a wonderful pairing, so I strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a hearty meal near COEX.
