Gongdeok burger restaurant with a milkshake set swap: Bored & Hungry

In short

Bored & Hungry Mapo is a handmade burger restaurant on the Gyeongui Line Forest Path between Daeheung and Gongdeok stations in Seoul, an offshoot of the original in Seongsu-dong. Two Bacon Deluxe sets — one with the drink swapped for a milkshake, one upgraded to a double patty — came to 40,800 won for two, and the self-serve bar holds sauces, disposable gloves, forks and plates. Between the juicy patty, the seasoned fries and the thick milkshake, Bored & Hungry Mapo is an easy pick for a date near Sinchon or Daeheung Station.

Open daily 11:00–20:50. Today I'm introducing a trendy yet delicious hamburger place right on the Gyeongui Line Forest Path near Daeheung Station. What does Bored & Hungry Mapo look like inside? The Seongsu-dong interior

The inside of Bored & Hungry Mapo is decorated in a really hip style — makes sense, since Bored & Hungry started in the famously hip Seongsu-dong, and that same energy comes through here ✨

Besides à la carte items, they also offer set menus that come with sides and a drink, and for a bit extra you can upgrade to different sides — nice if you're coming with a group, since everyone can pick what they like.

  • 📍 Price: ₩40,800 total for two
  • ✔️ Bacon Deluxe set (milkshake swap)
  • ✔️ Bacon Deluxe set (upgraded to double)

The drink could also be swapped for a milkshake, and the patty could be upgraded to a double, so you can customize the set to your taste. I was curious about the milkshake-and-fries combo so I swapped mine for a milkshake, and my partner went for the double patty haha

Milkshake or cola? Drinks come from the self-serve dispenser

First up, the milkshake and cola! Drinks are poured freely from a self-serve dispenser.

Milkshake and cola served as part of the set

Just look at how thick that milkshake is, right? haha It had a rich, premium milk flavor you don't get at most milkshake places. Talk about a proper sugar rush 😆

Bacon Deluxe single vs. double patty: how did the burgers taste?

Next up, the main event — the Bacon Deluxe burger and fries make their appearance ✨ Still mouth-watering just looking at it again haha

Looks so good, right? 😆 Gloves on, ready to eat ✌️

Single on the left, double patty on the right.

Single burger compared with the double-patty burger

The patties are pressed and grilled flat so they're hard to spot, but yes, that's two layers haha

Cross-section of the double burger with two flat-grilled patties

This burger is honestly top-tier among hamburger places in this neighborhood 👍 The patty's juiciness, the sauce, the veggies and the grilled bun all came together perfectly. The fries were seasoned too, and they were seriously delicious haha

Dipping these fries into the milkshake I ordered earlier — how good does that sound? haha
