If you're looking for a good burger near Sogang University, Bored & Hungry Mapo is worth a visit — that's where I went.

It's the kind of place you naturally come across while searching for restaurants near Daeheung Station or the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail. Being close to Sogang University makes it convenient for college students too, and when I visited there were quite a few students and foreign customers around. The vibe overall is casual and relaxed, good for a quick meal with friends or for grabbing a burger solo.
Where is Bored & Hungry Mapo, and what is the space like?
Bored & Hungry Mapo sits between Daeheung Station and Sogang University Station, near the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, so it comes up easily whether you're searching for Daeheung Station restaurants or Sogang University restaurants.

The store is on the ground floor and the exterior is eye-catching enough that it's easy to spot while walking by. Inside is clean with a hip feel, and there are tables to eat comfortably. You can order a burger by itself, or add a drink or side to make it a combo.

If you just want a simple burger, go single, and if you want fries and a drink too, the combo works — easy to pick based on your appetite and mood. This time I ordered a range: classic cheese single, bacon deluxe single, plus corn ribs, fries, a milkshake and cola.
Classic cheese burger (single)

Let me start with the classic cheese single. It's a straightforward cheeseburger style, so you really get to taste that homemade-burger patty flavor. Burgers loaded with extra ingredients are great too, but with a basic burger the balance of patty, cheese and bun matters even more. The patty's presence was clear from the first bite, and it worked well with the cheese. If you like a classic cheeseburger, this is an easy pick.
Bacon deluxe burger (single)

Next up, the bacon deluxe single. If you want something richer and more intense than the classic cheese, this one fits better. The bacon adds a salty umami kick to the patty, giving it a completely different charm from the classic cheese. I ordered both and alternated bites — the styles were different enough that sharing worked well. If you like a basic cheeseburger, go classic cheese single; if you prefer something saltier and richer, I'd recommend the bacon deluxe single.
Why the corn ribs were the most memorable side

Out of everything I ate that day, the corn ribs left the strongest impression. Fries are usually the first thing that comes to mind at a burger place, but at Bored & Hungry Mapo, the corn ribs deserve a try too. Salty and savory, I just kept reaching for more. The burgers were fairly heavy, so having corn ribs to nibble on in between was great, and they had a completely different charm from fries.

Honestly, if I had to pick the one item that exceeded expectations that day, it's the corn ribs. I only added it as an extra side, but it was so much better than expected that I couldn't stop eating it. If you love salty, savory flavors, this one's for you.
Fries, cola and the sweet-salty milkshake pairing

Fries are also an essential burger pairing. A bite of burger, a bite of fries, and some corn ribs in between made the meal surprisingly filling. If you're visiting with a group, ordering different burgers and sharing the sides could work really well.

For drinks, I ordered cola and a milkshake. Cola paired well with the burgers as always, and the milkshake worked really nicely with the salty flavors of the burger — a solid sweet-and-salty combo. If you're into the burger-and-shake pairing, I'd recommend adding a milkshake too. Taking a sip of sweet shake between bites of burger added a fun contrast.

The food was good, but the staff being friendly was a nice bonus too. The whole experience, from ordering to eating, felt comfortable, and that added to the overall satisfaction by the time I left.

What to order at Bored & Hungry Mapo
For a first visit, if you like a basic cheeseburger, go for the classic cheese single; if you want something richer, the bacon deluxe single is also good. And for a side, I personally recommend the corn ribs!
The burgers were tasty this visit, but the salty, savory corn ribs turned out to be way more memorable than expected. It's the kind of side I'd order again alongside a burger next time. A Mapo burger spot worth remembering for whenever a burger craving hits near Sogang or the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail — and next time I'd like to try a different burger menu too :)
