Goyang hair salon for brown-to-black tone-down dye: Hair Onsae

I was starting to get a little tired of my brown hair,,, so I went in for a tone-down, partly just to switch things up! Whenever I go with an ambiguous dark brown, it fades so fast after just a few washes.

This time I wanted to keep the black hair look for at least 6 months, so I didn't want a black that looked too stark or unnatural — I wanted a black that blended in naturally, like my real hair color. So!!! While thinking about which color to go with, I visited Hair Onsae, a hair salon in Pungdong.

I've always thought that with a tone-down, it's important for the color not to feel too heavy while still staying clean-looking over time, and since I especially wanted the black to last this time, I decided to get a thorough consultation before going ahead haha.

Where is Hair Onsae, and what are its hours?

Hair Onsae is located at 3 Jungsan-ro, Ilsandong-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, B101, one minute on foot from Pungsan Station. You only have to cross one crosswalk, so it was super convenient location-wise.

What the inside of Hair Onsae is like

The inside of Hair Onsae was decorated cleanly in bright gray tones!! A salon being clean matters so much for putting visitors at ease, and it was so clean and bright that I already liked it haha.

If you're lucky, you might even see the salon dog (dogs are the best).

I was shown to my seat first and went to sit down!! Salon equipment visible here and there haha. Even though I visited on a weekday morning, there were quite a lot of people!!

BEFORE: grown-out brown hair

Before the treatment, my hair was brown with grown-out roots! Super brown in sunlight,, and even without sunlight, it was obviously brown hair to anyone.

Even just from the photo on the left you can see how vigorously the roots had grown out .. haha. Off to defeat the root situation lol.

The tone-down dye consultation and process at Hair Onsae

Anyway, gown on, dye started!!!!!!!!!!! I got my color done by stylist Soyoung at Hair Onsae. She first checked the condition of my hair and gave me a consultation on what style I wanted. I loved that she really listened to my concerns — that the color fades too fast, and that I wanted the dark hair to last a long, long time haha.

The dye going on smoothly, swish swish!! She confirmed the tone I wanted and applied it carefully. I loved that she kept checking throughout to make sure none got on my face haha.

Sugar recharge with the snack I got in the middle ~~ I don't know why rice crackers taste so good. If nobody stopped me I could eat 10 bags right there on the spot!!! After eating crackers and drinking green tea for about 30 minutes while waiting, my hair got washed!!

AFTER: how the calm black held up after one week

Can you see how the result came back as a really calm black hahaha. It was a day where I realized for the 500th time that black really is the color for cool-toned people ~~~~~. Black is the best, I love it so much lol.

My hair condition hasn't been great lately, but it seems like they applied plenty of treatment too, because my hair was so silky and bouncy all day long haha. I loved it so much. Also, since the color can bleed at first right after dyeing, you should wear dark clothing for 3-4 days!!

Long live black hair!! Long live Hair Onsae!!! Very, very highly recommended for anyone looking for a hair salon near Pungsan Station. I'm planning to live with black hair for at least a year like this, and whenever I feel like dyeing again someday ~~ I'll be revisiting Hair Onsae haha.

It's been a week since I dyed my hair, and the black is holding up really well with no fading at all. Hehe.
