Walking to Jeju Samchun from Hamdeok Beach with a dog
Hi, this is Jjumi 👋👋👋 No trip to Jeju is complete without black pork 🐷 I visited Jeju Samchun Hamdeok Beach Black Pork, near my favorite Jeju beach, Hamdeok Beach!

Jeju Samchun is near Hamdeok Beach, so it's the perfect spot for lunch or dinner after playing around Hamdeok! And since it's a BBQ place that allows pets, it's great news for anyone traveling Jeju with their dog 🐶

At the entrance there's even a dol hareubang (stone grandfather statue) wearing a tangerine hat 🍊 haha, pretty stylish, aren't you..😎

The low-temperature aging fridge inside Jeju Samchun
On one side of Jeju Samchun there's an aging fridge where the meat is being aged!

The menu also said the meat was low-temperature aged, and I could actually see the meat aging inside.
Pollack roe among the free side dishes
Jeju Samchun's basic side dishes include pollack roe. Personally I love places that give you lots of side dishes with meat, and this place had a lot of special ones! There's pollack roe!!!✨✨✨ (this was really the kicker..)

And there are lettuce wraps, cucumber salad, and scallion salad too! haha

You order straight from the kiosk! Let me introduce the menu first haha

Jocha Set 500g arrives under a dry-ice dome
My friend and I wanted to eat a lot of meat haha, so we ordered the Jocha Set, which lets you have both pork neck and pork belly 🐷 When you order, the meat comes out under a dome with dry ice! The Jocha Set arrived with steam swirling out — what a visual!

The moment the meat came out, the thickness already passed the test 😋 The grill also came set up with various vegetables and kimchi to grill alongside!

Jeju black pork is best when it's thick like this, with a nice balance of fat and lean meat — that's what makes it so satisfying to eat haha
Black pork grilled at your table by Jeju Samchun staff
At Jeju Samchun, staff grill the meat for you! Jeju black pork needs to be grilled just right to keep the juices inside, which is trickier than it looks — so having it all grilled for us was both convenient and made it taste even better💛

First, the golden-brown pork belly 🐷 The surface is nicely savory and crisp, and when you bite in, juicy flavor bursts from inside!

The mushrooms cooked just right and the pork neck was now perfectly done too, so let me share Jeju Samchun's signature flavor combos 🖤

Two ways to eat Jeju Samchun black pork
🖤Gim (dried seaweed) + pollack roe + black pork🖤 It's rare for a BBQ place to give you both gim and pollack roe — put a well-grilled piece of black pork on a sheet of gim, add a bit of pollack roe, and take a bite! Highly recommend this combo..❤️

💛Pickled radish + aged kimchi + mel-jeot (fermented anchovy sauce)💛 This combo is scarily good in a familiar way — really chewy and delicious ㅠ

With galchi-sokjeot (fermented hairtail intestine sauce), aged kimchi, and shiitake wasabi as well, there are so many pairings that the same meat tastes different every time!

That one piece my friend is holding looks so good..😋

Five-layer pork belly vs pork neck: what's the difference?
If pork belly is fatty and savory, pork neck is a bit leaner with a thicker, chewier texture haha. Maybe because it's been aged, even though it's thick, it's not tough or dry — it stays tender!
Is Jeju Samchun worth it with a dog?
Thick black pork grilled for you, plus a variety of pairings like pollack roe and galchi-sokjeot — that's Jeju Samchun! If you're near Hamdeok Beach looking for a great Jeju Hamdeok black pork restaurant, or a BBQ place that welcomes pets, I recommend it 🐷🐶
