Where is Woljeongri Galbibap and what are its hours?
Woljeongri Galbibap is a galbi (grilled marinated meat) set restaurant located close to Woljeong-ri Beach in Gujwa-eup, Jeju. It's the perfect spot for lunch after looking at the sea.
Hours are 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM, then after a break, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and they only serve until ingredients run out.
It was close to where I was staying, so I ran over the moment I woke up, but I was too early, so I wandered around the beach for a bit... and by the time I came back, the place was already packed with travelers. How did everyone know to come here??? haha

You have to pay at the entrance before going in, and ordering one menu item per person is required.

A set vs B set at Woljeongri Galbibap: what's the price difference?
Woljeongri Galbibap's main menu is just Set A and Set B, and the difference between them is whether domestic yellow crab marinated in soy sauce is added or not. Here's what comes as standard.
- Charcoal-grilled galbi (soy sauce flavor, spicy flavor)
- Abalone butter grill
- Seafood pancake and 8 side dishes
- Rice and soup of the day
- A set ₩19,000 / B set ₩22,000
Free kids' galbibap is provided for children up to 2nd grade, so it seems less burdensome to come with family too. I ordered the A set for 3 people.

I heard the Jeju tower drink was famous too... I agonized over whether to order it or not. Since I was headed to a café after lunch, I sadly passed ㅠㅠ

Window seats, waiting time and robot servers
Woljeongri Galbibap's window seats have serious vibes! I wanted to sit there, but it seems only 2-seaters get that spot. A couple was already seated there, and I was so envious of the seat (not the couple, seriously, just the seat...)

The owner told us that since a lot of customers ordered all at once, the food would take some time to come out. Well, if you're at a famous spot, that's something you have to accept, haha. After the wait, our robot friend came trundling over to deliver the food, lol.

What comes with the A set for three people?
Rather than serving each person separately, everything comes out neatly as one shared table setting for 3. You can choose spicy or soy sauce for the charcoal-grilled galbi, and you can also pick both.
Seeing all that meat put me in a good mood haha. We picked both flavors, so it came out half and half.

It's nice that there's such a variety with abalone, pancake, and meat all together.

Butter-grilled abalone and seafood pancake
The owner told us to try the garlic-loaded butter-grilled abalone first. It was tiny, so I just popped it in whole. I'm not usually a huge abalone fan, but the burst of garlic aroma made it not fishy at all — genuinely delicious... a shame there was only one, but maybe that's what made it even better, lol.
The seafood pancake was crispy through and through. I love that cracker-like texture ㅠㅠ Too bad the pancake isn't refillable, lol.

Soup of the day: clam soup
The soup of the day was a deep, rich clam soup. Maybe it's because it's Jeju, but the depth of the broth felt different, haha.

Soy sauce or spicy galbi — which one wins?
Woljeongri Galbibap's meat is delicious plain over rice or wrapped in perilla leaves haha (no lettuce for wraps, only perilla leaves — but refillable!). The soy sauce meat isn't too salty, with just the right seasoning, the kind kids would love too. The spicy version is tasty too, but for a spice-wimp like me, it was a bit too spicy haha.

So when eating the spicy meat, pairing it with the bean sprouts and quail eggs balances it out perfectly!

How the free side dish refills work
Think the side dishes look a bit sparse? No worries! You can refill the side dishes yourself as much as you want. It makes you feel generous too.

Why people line up at Woljeongri Galbibap
I'd heard that if you're even a little late, you have to wait in line at this Woljeong-ri favorite, and after eating there, I get why.

The food is delicious, the place is clean, and it's a good-hearted restaurant that even donates to charity — maybe that's why, haha.

The vibe totally passes too, haha. Everything lived up to my expectations with nothing disappointing, and that made me so happy haha. It was an excellent choice for lunch. I think the joy of travel comes from the food. If you're heading to eastern Jeju, I definitely recommend stopping by.
