Where is Jeju Boncham Sutbul Galbi? 10 minutes from Jeju Airport in Nohyeong-dong

This Nohyeong-dong restaurant is about 10 minutes by car from Jeju Airport, which makes it perfectly located for a meal on the first day of a Jeju trip, or right before heading to the airport on the last day.

The interior of this Nohyeong-dong spot was really spacious, and the tables were spaced far enough apart that it was easy to chat comfortably while eating.

This local-recommended restaurant in Nohyeong-dong serves banchan (side dishes) as neatly arranged as a full Korean set meal.

There were so many different banchan, and every single one had a really high-quality taste — honestly, you could have made a full meal out of just the banchan and rice.

The pork galbi is pre-grilled once by the owner before serving, so it cooks quickly and is easy to finish when you're eating.

We ordered the most popular menu items at this Nohyeong-dong spot — raw pork galbi and boncham marinated galbi. Right after ordering, a steamed egg came out. We only ordered meat, but they gave us the steamed egg for free! We soothed our stomachs with the warm steamed egg first and got ready to eat the meat ^^

It's a BBQ place, but the banchan came out at a set-meal level. Honestly, I was already pretty full from the delicious side dishes before even eating the meat ^^

Raw pork galbi, 20,000 won, grilled on a copper charcoal grate

First up is the raw pork galbi. They say they use open-flame charcoal grilling with a copper grate that preserves the meat's juices, bringing out the best flavor.

For 19 years, the owner has personally trimmed the raw pork galbi to serve customers meat in the best possible condition. Apparently, when raw galbi is trimmed cleanly, the amount you can actually eat ends up being smaller than expected, so the price per portion runs higher. That's why raw galbi isn't easy to come by, and not many restaurants serve it.

I don't really remember eating raw pork galbi before, so coming to Jeju and getting to try it made me curious about the taste. I got curious and quickly tried a piece. The meat got savory and fresh the more I chewed, and it was so delicious. I found myself nodding along, thinking, 'so this is what raw galbi tastes like~'

Wow~ what is this? What were all the meats I've eaten up until now — what my sibling said after eating the raw galbi^^

The staff grilled all the meat for us from start to finish, so it was so easy to just eat comfortably. They also kept bringing more banchan, and the whole vibe at this Nohyeong-dong spot was just pure friendliness. The whole meal was fun and I felt really grateful.

How does the 19,000 won Boncham marinated pork galbi taste?

Now let's grill the pork galbi — another signature menu item here — over charcoal until it's golden brown.

The subtle charcoal aroma soaked in, making the meat's original flavor deep and rich. The outside was grilled golden while the inside stayed juicy, and the more I chewed, the more the meat juice and flavor came alive. The not-too-strong marinade actually let the meat's clean flavor shine even more. I understood right then why this became a local favorite in Jeju — there was a clear reason it's been loved consistently.

Lettuce wrap combos: bean sprout and scallion salad, geotjeori, citrus-sauce salad

I wrapped it in lettuce with garlic and bean sprout scallion salad. Pairing the pungent garlic with crunchy bean sprouts brought out the meat's flavor even more.

I also tried wrapping it in geotjeori (fresh kimchi) made with ground red chili. The flavor combination was amazing 😊 The spicy kick of the geotjeori mixed with the deep umami of the galbi created a whole different, delicious flavor.

Wrapping it in perilla leaf with the refreshing citrus-sauce lettuce salad was also a special treat. The vegetables cut through what could have been a heavy, greasy meat, making it a combination you could keep eating endlessly ^^

The raw galbi meat left on the rib bone

When I had the raw galbi, there was a rib bone section, and while I was eating the marinated galbi, it had finished cooking completely, so I thought I'd try picking it apart — and it was so delicious!

Why is the raw galbi meat on the bone so good? It had a chewy yet tender texture that was outstanding. There's also the fun of picking meat off the bone, and the deep meat and smoky charcoal aroma came through, giving an even deeper galbi flavor.

Naengmyeon 8,000 won and seafood doenjang soup 3,000 won

The naengmyeon (cold noodles) here were also really good. The cool, tangy-sweet noodles helped settle a stomach that had gotten a bit greasy from the meat.

Seafood doenjang soup packed with seafood and vegetables

The seafood doenjang soup is ₩3,000 and packed full of seafood and vegetables. They give you this seafood doenjang soup at this price? What a bargain. The cool broth simmered from crab, shrimp, and clams, combined with the savory depth of doenjang, made for a deep yet clean flavor that I loved. The naengmyeon is also ₩8,000.
