Jeju noodle restaurant after hiking Banong Oreum: Myeonjumak
In short
Myeonjumak Jeju Main Branch (면주막 제주본점) is a Korean noodle restaurant on Beonyeong-ro in Jocheon-eup, Jeju, near Eco Land, Jeju Stone Park and Saryeoni Forest Path, which makes it an easy lunch stop on an east Jeju trip. After hiking Banong Oreum (바농오름), the writer ordered myeolgo guksu (anchovy broth noodles) and conch bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles) with the sauce on the side, plus jokkeopdegi makgeolli (millet husk rice wine) and green tangerine juice; noodle dishes let you leave out any ingredient you don't want. Portions were generous and the room spacious and clean, a filling meal after an oreum hike.

A filling noodle lunch on the way back from Banong Oreum

On the way back from hiking Banat Oreum, I stopped by Myeonjumak for lunch. There are a few restaurants near Banat Oreum that I go to often, and Myeonjumak is one of them.

The space is spacious and clean, the owner is friendly, and the food is tasty with generous portions — it's a place that comes to mind whenever I'm nearby.

It's also close to Jeju Stone Park, Eco Land and Saryeoni Forest Path, so it's a good lunch stop if you're planning a trip around Jeju's eastern side. Naturally, that's where we headed after Banat Oreum this time too.
Myeolgo guksu: the anchovy broth noodles at Myeonjumak

This time at Myeonjumak we ordered anchovy noodles (myeolgo guksu), conch bibim guksu, jopjeopdegi makgeolli (millet makgeolli), and citrus juice.

I like pork noodle soup too, but that day I was craving a clean anchovy broth instead of a rich pork broth.

So I ordered the anchovy noodles, and sure enough, they were delicious!

I also liked that when ordering noodles, you can choose to have certain ingredients left out. Little touches like this made me think the owner runs the place with real care for customers.
Conch bibim guksu with the sauce served on the side

And the dish I really want to recommend at Myeonjumak is the conch bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles with conch). When you order bibim guksu here, I'd definitely recommend asking for the sauce separately.

That way you're not stuck with a lot of sauce from the start — you can add it little by little to your taste. I added the sauce gradually while tasting as I went, and it turned out to be really good.

Instead of a sauce that hits you with an intense spicy punch right away, being able to adjust the amount to your own taste was even better. The conch wasn't chewy either, and it went really well with the noodles texture-wise. There's also lettuce at the self-serve bar, so wrapping the noodles, meat and conch together in a lettuce leaf was extra delicious.

Green tangerine juice for the driver, jokkeopdegi makgeolli for me

My husband had to drive, so he ordered the citrus juice, and I had the jopjeopdegi makgeolli. It didn't have that heavy, chalky makgeolli feel — it went down smoothly and paired well with the food. Maybe because we'd just hiked up and down Banat Oreum, lunch tasted even better than usual.
No ocean view, but a pretty countryside outlook

Every time I come to Myeonjumak, I think the surrounding scenery is really pretty. There's that relaxed, laid-back Jeju atmosphere I personally love here. And since the space is spacious and clean, it's comfortable for family meals too, plus the portions are generous enough that you leave full.
An easy stop near Eco Land and Saryeoni Forest Path in east Jeju
If you're heading out to Banat Oreum or Saryeoni Forest Path, or looking for restaurants near Eco Land, it's worth keeping Myeonjumak in mind. It's close to Jeju Stone Park, Eco Land and Saryeoni Forest Path, so it's easy to fit into a route with nearby attractions. It's also a great option for a hearty lunch after tackling an oreum, like we did.
This time too, we had anchovy noodles and conch bibim guksu with makgeolli and juice on the side, and left both full and satisfied. Whenever I'm craving a bowl of noodles in east Jeju, I think I'll be back at Myeonjumak.
