Window-seat aged kimchi sushi and raw salmon sashimi at Kuu Kuu, Nowon
In short
Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is a 300-pyeong sushi buffet near Hakgye Station in Nowon, Seoul. Visiting for weekend lunch with family, a window seat brought rolls, shrimp, halibut and salmon sushi, aged kimchi sushi, and the weekend-only raw salmon sashimi, with generously sized fish and light rice making it easy to sample many kinds. Between the sushi quality, kids' playroom, and spacious layout, it's a solid pick for a Nowon family gathering.

I've been craving sushi lately. My family loves it, so I figured we might as well eat as much as we wanted and went with a sushi buffet. Among sushi buffets, Kuu Kuu is one of the most popular, so off we went 😉 Here's my review of Kuu Kuu, a great spot for a family gathering in Nowon, Seoul.

My family went for weekend lunch. The standard dining time is 2 hours, or 1.5 hours if other guests are waiting.
The view from our window seat
This was our table for the day. Wide open view, pretty blue sky.

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is genuinely huge (300 pyeong) and really clean and comfortable.
- Independent spaces for 50, 80, or up to 300 people, usable like a private booking
- Rooms range from 40–60 seats for groups, up to 14–200 people
With its bright wood-and-white tones and spacious layout, it's great for family gatherings or company dinners too. Lots of families were there the day I visited — this really is a Nowon family-gathering restaurant. Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch also has a kids' playroom for children up to age 7, so it's great for a fun meal out with kids.
From rolls to sushi — what we ate

Started with rolls first. Wow, so many kinds.

Good food next to more good food. So happy.

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch also had many kinds of shrimp sushi — they use botan shrimp, which apparently gives even richer shrimp flavor.
What satisfied me most at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch was that the fish pieces were noticeably bigger than at other places. The halibut sushi, salmon sushi and more clearly had generous fish with light rice, which made it easy to enjoy many different kinds of sushi. The fish was fresh too — you can see the shine on that salmon!!
Raw salmon sashimi — the weekend and holiday menu
And what my salmon-loving family was so happy about — the raw salmon sashimi at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch! (Apparently even the Kuu Kuu Gold branch doesn't have raw salmon sashimi.) It's only on the weekday dinner, weekend, and holiday menu.
If you love salmon, come to Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch! The salmon was fresh and delicious — we ate our fill of it.

The aged kimchi sushi was also really good. Definitely try it.
Since we came for sushi, we focused on sushi first. (No wasabi is added to the sushi, so add it yourself to taste.)

Unlimited draft beer with a review
Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch gives unlimited free draft beer worth ₩5,900 if you leave a review. Real draft Terra and Kelly, all free.

Lamb chops, smoked duck, encroute soup
We started with sushi, so now it's time to try other kinds. Eyed the crab and shrimp first though 😁
Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch's tender lamb chops and chewy smoked duck have launched! Lamb chops are available all day, while smoked duck is on the weekday dinner, weekend, and holiday menu.

This is the encroute soup. Looks so good, right 😊 Eat it together with the soup hidden inside the pastry bread.

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch was great because it wasn't just sushi — there was a wide range of Western and Korean dishes to choose from too.

We also enjoyed the crab, shrimp, and clams steamed in wine that we'd eyed earlier.

The drinks were varied too — water, coffee, slushies, sikhye (sweet rice drink), juice, herbal tea and more.

Chocolate fondue and desserts the kids loved
And every kid's dream — chocolate fondue. My chocolate-loving daughter finished her meal and went straight for the chocolate fondue.
Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch was great for the variety of bakery items and fruit. The choux pastry was especially good.

By this point I was so full, but there's always room for dessert. The fruit was fresh, and the tropical fruit was good too.
And the marble ice cream that kids and adults alike love!! I love marble ice cream too 🫶🏻 Ate it happily. It used to only be on the weekday dinner and weekend menu, but now it's available at lunch too. I bet kids will be coming here a lot during school break.
Wrapping up

With good-quality sushi, a wide variety of food, and a spacious, comfortable space, I'd recommend Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch for all kinds of gatherings, Nowon dinners with coworkers, solo meals, or family outings. The size of the fish on the sushi and the salmon sashimi in particular were so satisfying. That's my review of Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, a great spot for a Nowon family gathering.
