Norwegian raw salmon and gomtang at a Nowon buffet with parents: Kuu

In short

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is a roughly 990-square-meter sushi and seafood buffet on the 6th floor of the Seoul Oncheon Building near Hagye Station in Nowon, Seoul. Visiting on a weekend with parents, the writer tried Norwegian raw salmon sashimi not even offered at Kuu Kuu's Gold branch, plus smoked duck, lamb chops, steamed crab, and gomtang (bone broth soup), while the halibut, salmon, and shrimp sushi all came with upgraded portions. A reliable pick for a family with different tastes.

Now that the weather's gotten nicer, it's so much easier to go out. During the peak of summer, even eating out felt like a chore. I wanted to take my parents out for a meal after a long while, so I went hunting for a good restaurant in Nowon. That's when Kuu Kuu came to mind — a place where you can enjoy sashimi and sushi, Western food like pizza and fried chicken, Korean food, and desserts all at once!

I really love Kuu Kuu, and the Nowon branch in particular has menu items you can't even find at the Gold branch, plus they'd just launched new dishes, so I had to go. As expected, both my parents loved every bite. Today I'll walk you through Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch in detail — the kind of place that always earns compliments when you bring your parents.

Getting to Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch from Hagye Station, and parking

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is located in the Seoul Oncheon Building. Coming out of Exit 2 of Hagye Station (Line 7), it's about a 10-minute walk, so it's very accessible by public transit. The parking lot entrance is at the back of the building, and parking at Seoul Oncheon Building is free for 2 hours! Just note that on weekends, when the lot gets crowded, it may fill up, and you'll need to use a nearby paid lot instead.

A 990-square-meter space and group bookings

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch stands out for its clean, comfortable interior in natural wood and white tones. The bright, relaxed atmosphere hits you the moment you walk in, which is probably why so many families come here.

With over 990 square meters of space, it stayed comfortable even on a busy weekend. You can book independent spaces for 50, 80, or up to 300 people almost like a private venue — rooms accommodate 40 to 60 for group seating, and event bookings run from 14 to 200 guests, making it a popular spot for receptions, first birthday parties (doljanchi), and more.

Apparently if you join the current review event, you get unlimited draft beer worth ₩5,900 for free. Obviously I had to join and drink for free! And at the Nowon branch specifically, it's real draft beer — Terra and Kelly, not Filite — unlimited!

What's new on the menu at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch?

On this visit, there were so many new dishes on the menu. I already loved Kuu Kuu, but now with even more upscale, special additions, I was really looking forward to it.

1. Raw salmon sashimi

First up is my absolute favorite — raw salmon sashimi! This is Norwegian raw salmon sashimi, not even available at the Kuu Kuu Gold branch! (Weekday dinner & weekend/holiday menu.) Most buffets serve smoked salmon, so having actual Norwegian raw salmon is next-level quality ✨

2. Smoked duck

Second is smoked duck! The chewy texture and distinctive aroma make it addictive — this one was really tasty too! (Weekday dinner & weekend/holiday menu.)

3. Lamb chops and steamed crab

See the lamb chops right next to the smoked dishes? Full of that distinctive lamb flavor and so tender, I went back for seconds and thirds! If you love lamb chops, you have to try these! (Available all day.)

Steamed crab was also new — so delicious, and the shell wasn't too hard, so it was easy to eat!

4. Upgraded halibut, salmon, and shrimp sushi

The halibut sushi and salmon sushi both got a size upgrade compared to before! The fish fills your whole mouth and that clean, mild flavor hits right away!!

The shrimp sushi now uses botan shrimp, taking the shrimp flavor up a notch!

5. Bead ice cream now available at lunch

A dessert I never skip at Kuu Kuu is the bead ice cream! It used to only be available at weekday dinner and weekends, but now it's been upgraded so you can enjoy it at lunch too!

It's an ice cream everyone loves regardless of age, but kids especially love it, so this must be a huge hit during school breaks!

What to do when everyone in the family has different tastes

I love raw fish and sushi, my husband loves meat, and my parents love warm soups and Korean food — when everyone in the family likes different things, it's always a struggle deciding where to go.

For times like that, Kuu Kuu seems like a foolproof choice.

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch especially has a lot of menu items not found at other branches, and the quality is so good that it's become even more popular for it.

On this visit to the Nowon branch, there were so many newly launched dishes, and it felt like there were even more worthwhile things to eat, which made it even better.

The salad vegetables were so fresh, and they had my favorite gomtang (bone broth soup), so I got to eat a really satisfying spread.

Desserts and the chocolate fountain

Even the desserts somehow felt more delicious? I usually don't eat much dessert, especially cake, at buffets, but that day I devoured that chocolate cake like I was in a trance...

The chocolate fountain, which kids absolutely love, was also kept spotlessly clean!

Sushi lovers, the halibut, salmon, and shrimp sushi you already love have all been upgraded, so make sure to visit and try them!
