Weekend dinner sushi buffet with ankimo and marble ice cream: Kuu Kuu

I visited Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, a sushi buffet in Nowon, this past weekend. I've mostly been going to the Sangbong Gold branch, so it had been a while since I'd been to the Nowon branch.

With fall here, there are lots of new menu items, and I stuffed myself with the raw salmon and smoked duck that are only available on weekends and at dinner.

How much is weekend dinner at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch?

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch has enough space for all kinds of gatherings, including family meals and first-birthday parties.

We came for dinner, which was ₩35,900. With prices so high these days, being able to enjoy sashimi, sushi, seafood, fruit, and dessert all for ₩35,900 felt like great value.

Raw salmon, only for weekend dinner

The raw salmon at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is especially fresh and delicious. It's only available at dinner and on weekends, but it's thick and fresh with zero fishy smell!

If you go to Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, eat a lot of it!

Steamed crab, shrimp, and oyster seafood

There was steamed crab too, plus steamed shrimp and steamed oysters. Every piece of seafood was fresh, with no fishy smell at all, and it was all delicious.

The crab guts inside the shell were wonderfully rich, and the oysters were steamed with a variety of sauces, so it was fun trying each one.

Beyond sushi and seafood, there were so many great hot dishes too — short ribs, mala shrimp, lamb chops, smoked duck, and more. The lamb chops were really moist and warm compared to other branches, and the smoked duck was so tender too.

Sushi — ankimo and aged kimchi yukhoe sushi

You go to Kuu Kuu for the sushi, right, haha. Let me show you the sushi menu.

There was so much variety it was hard to even try one of each, haha. Everything looked so delicious.

It was nice that Kuu Kuu has sushi options for people who can't eat sashimi or yukhoe (raw beef tartare), not just raw dishes. The ankimo (monkfish liver) sushi was so rich and delicious.

The aged kimchi yukhoe sushi was also so good. It tastes even better when you pile the yukhoe on top, haha.

Hot dishes — Uljin snow crab pasta

This Uljin snow crab pasta was thick and creamy with a nice crab aroma — really delicious. It was even better when I picked out the meat from the steamed crab and piled it on top, haha.

There were also noodle dishes, pizza, and more, and if my stomach had been bigger I would have eaten it all, but I was already too full from the sushi, so I didn't get to try them. T_T

Cold dishes — grapefruit orange salad

There was a wide variety of fruit salad, jellyfish salad, yukhoe, and more. The grapefruit orange salad was especially refreshing, and eating it partway through completely cut through the richness! The yukhoe was twice as good piled on top of the aged kimchi yukhoe sushi too, haha.

Dessert and fruit — you have to try the melon

There were waffles, cake, and all kinds of desserts, and since it's melon season right now, the melon was incredibly sweet!!

The sugar content was so high and it was so delicious. If you go to Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, be sure to have the melon.

Marble ice cream and Kuu Kuu tea

If you're at Kuu Kuu, you absolutely have to try the marble ice cream!! There were as many as 4 flavors. Personally, the chocolate vanilla was the real winner.

Being able to enjoy this expensive marble ice cream unlimited?! It's thick like gelato too, so make sure you have some.

You know Kuu Kuu's tea is famous, right?! Cleanse your palate with some tea, haha. I like Kuu Kuu's tea so much I buy it separately to take home, haha. They have slushies too!

Location and parking

From the meal to dessert, Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch was truly excellent! I go to the Sangbong branch often, so visiting a new branch after a while felt fresh and fun, haha.
