Last Sunday, my wife and I went on a weekend outing to Yeongjongdo for some fresh air and a change of scenery. Once again, I discovered an appealing dessert café through Superchart and headed over with anticipation — this time it was '5PM sunset hour,' a well-loved Yeongjongdo café known for its varied bakery lineup and charming outdoor terrace.

From the outside alone, the stylish orange bench and clean signage caught my eye right away.

The interior is a bit small and cozy, but outside there's a relaxed layout with red-awning terrace seats and outdoor parasol seating set against a backdrop of green trees.

On a cool, pleasant day like this, it was the perfect spot to sit on the terrace, feel the breeze, and enjoy dessert.

There were plenty of customers the whole time we were there, and seeing a steady stream of local residents picking up bread to go made it clear — this is a genuine neighborhood favorite.

My wife had been wanting to try the Greek tomato basil bagel before we even arrived, but as befits a popular item, it was already sold out. We'll have to save it for next time.

The rich, sweet flavor of the milk paired with the savory, salty bread made for a perfect sweet-and-salty combination.

Next was the 'Isigny butter rice cake,' where the rich, savory flavor of premium Isigny butter clung to the chewy texture of the rice cake — a distinctive treat with a subtle nuttiness that lingered the more we chewed.

The soft, cloud-like 'banana pudding' was also full of natural, pleasant sweetness and banana flavor, raising our dessert time to a whole new level of satisfaction.

A clean iced americano to cut through all that sweetness, and a strawberry ade with fresh strawberry chunks and a smooth flavor — every drink paired beautifully.
