Dongchuwon Bulgogi
A Korean beef bulgogi meal in Hagik-dong
I wanted a hearty meal in Hagik-dong, Incheon, so I visited Dongchuwon Bulgogi, a popular spot near Singi Market. I was curious because it is quite well known for Korean beef bulgogi, and after trying it myself, I thought it would be a nice place for a family meal or a meal with your parents.

Dongchuwon Bulgogi, a popular Singi Market restaurant, is in Hagik-dong, Incheon. Its exterior had the feel of a long-established bulgogi specialist, while still looking neatly maintained.

There were especially several Blue Ribbon selection signs at the entrance, which got me looking forward to the food before I even went in. Korean beef bulgogi is the restaurant's focus, and the atmosphere was good for visiting in a group, too.
Public parking opposite and parking support
If you are driving, it is a good idea to check parking in advance. Seonjeong Public Parking Lot is directly opposite the restaurant, and Dongchuwon Bulgogi offers parking support to diners.

According to the posted information, cooking dishes receive 1 hour 30 minutes free and meals receive 30 minutes free; after that, it is ₩2,000 per 30 minutes, paid on site. I had been worried about parking during the meal, but the support made it easier than expected.
Once inside, the restaurant felt clean and bright overall! There was also a master craftsman plaque, so I imagine the owner may have been recognized as a master of bulgogi cooking!!

Dongchuwon Bulgogi also sold boiled pork and beef tendon soup meal kits, and they were only ₩6,600 per pack?

There is also a self-serve station for extra side dishes! Since leaving extras incurs an environmental fee, let's all take only as much as we can eat~ haha
There were regular tables as well as window seats, so it was more spacious than I expected, and there were separate room-style spaces too. High chairs were also available, which made it seem suitable for families. And when you are eating food like this, a disposable apron is essential!

From Korean beef bulgogi to a kids' menu
Looking at the menu, Korean beef bulgogi is the main item! There is old-style bulgogi as well. They also had Korean beef restorative hot pot, Korean beef yukhoe (seasoned raw beef) with minari, and charcoal-grilled squid. There was even a kids' menu for children!

Dongchuwon Bulgogi also uniquely gave out Dolsan mustard-leaf pickles through a review event. If you visit, make sure to give it a try~

How to eat the Korean beef bulgogi set
There was a guide for enjoying old-style bulgogi, and you really should read it before eating! That is because you do not simply grill it; you eat it shabu-shabu style! What we ordered that day was the Korean beef bulgogi set!

First, the banchan (Korean side dishes) arrived, neatly served with dishes that went well with bulgogi. Bulgogi alone can feel a little rich, so I liked having such a variety of sides to eat with it.

And these are the morning rolls that come when you order the set~ I will show you how to eat them shortly!

When you order the Korean beef bulgogi set, you get a mound of Korean beef and assorted vegetables.

Even though we ordered just two servings, it really arrived piled up like a mountain~ The main Korean beef bulgogi is simmered right at the table, so you can eat it warm, and while the meat cooked, its aroma drifted up and properly whetted my appetite.

Scooping up the meat and broth together to eat with rice, I thought, yes, this is what bulgogi should taste like. Rather than simply grilling it, you let the bulgogi cook in the broth once it is partly done, as in the photo above.
Rice was not included in the set, so we ordered bowls of rice separately. The sweet and savory bulgogi seasoning went so well with it that it made for a satisfying meal.

It was really delicious with the side dishes, without feeling rich. The set also included morning-roll burgers: you put meat and other ingredients into the soft rolls, which was a different way to enjoy the bulgogi. It genuinely tasted like a bulgogi burger, haha.

You can keep refilling any broth you run short of yourself and pour it in as you go!

Finishing with naengmyeon and omija tea
Naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) was included in the set, so the two of us could each order one and share them easily. After the bulgogi, the cool mul naengmyeon cleared the palate, while the bibim naengmyeon, with its tangy spicy flavor, made a great pairing too.
Omija tea came at the end of the meal, so we finished neatly. And as we were paying and leaving, there was ice cream, haha. It had been such a long time since I had seen complimentary ice cream at a meat restaurant, so my husband and I each had one.
Overall, both the food and the restaurant atmosphere were pleasant and tidy, so if you are looking for a family meal or a hearty Korean beef bulgogi meal in Hagik-dong, Incheon, it is a place worth visiting at least once.
