Mokdong ramen restaurant at 11am: three bowls for two, Gyedan Ramen
In short
Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch is a tonkotsu ramen restaurant on the first basement floor of the SBS Mokdong building in Yangcheon, Seoul. A couple arrived at 11am and ordered Gyedan Ramen (basic) for 11,000 won, Motsu Ramen (basic) for 12,000 won and tamagobap (egg rice bowl) for 3,000 won, switching up the broth strength, tripe topping and secret spicy sauce as they ate. I was trying to figure out what to eat for lunch, so my husband and I headed to Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch, a well-known spot in Mokdong, at 11am haha. One sip of that rich broth and I was hooked from the first spoonful :)

It's on the basement level of the SBS Mokdong building, so you take the elevator down and the entrance is right there.

For parking, you can use the mall's dedicated surface parking lot.

Since it's newly opened, the whole storefront was glass, so you could see right in. Being so close to Omokgyo Station made getting there really convenient, as befits a well-known Mokdong ramen spot.
Solo-friendly seating and mood at Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch
Inside Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch there were tables for 4, 2, and solo diners. Maybe because of the wood-toned interior, the space felt warm yet tidy.

The ceilings were fairly high, so it didn't feel cramped, and the lighting was soft when we went, giving it a cozy vibe — this place is easily a solid lunch option if you're near Ewha Womans University-Mokdong too.

Every table had a tablet, so we could order right where we sat.
Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch menu and prices
The menu at Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch was simple. There are two ramens — tonkotsu ramen and motsu ramen — and two mini rice bowls — tamagobap and chashu don.

Add-ons included extra noodles, extra chashu, extra egg, and extra pork intestine. For the ramen, you can choose between basic or rich broth.

We waited while watching the tablet's guide on how to enjoy the dish best, but the food came out fast.

We wanted to try a bit of everything, so this is what we ordered.
- Gyedan Ramen (basic): ₩11,000
- Motsu Ramen (basic): ₩12,000
- Tamagobap: ₩3,000
Gyedan Ramen (basic), 11,000 won: broth and noodles
First up, the Gyedan Ramen. On top of the pale, rich broth were piled egg, chashu, wood ear mushroom, and chopped green onion.

I took a spoonful of the broth first — the first taste was heavy, but the finish was clean, going down smoothly without any greasiness, with a faint hint of garlic aroma rising up. I kept going back for more spoonfuls of just the broth 👍

The noodles are thin, straight ramen noodles. With every bite, I could feel the rich broth clinging tightly to the strands.

The chashu was so tender it pulled apart with just a light press of the chopsticks, and the wood ear mushroom's crunchy texture balanced out the whole bowl.
Motsu Ramen (basic), 12,000 won: what the pork intestine topping adds
The Motsu Ramen has the same broth, but with pork intestine on top.
The pork intestine was crispy outside, chewy inside! The nuttiness spread out more with each bite, so I kept reaching for more haha. It paired perfectly with the broth without ever feeling greasy.
When I split the egg in half, the yolk came out soft and runny, and stirring it into the broth added another layer of richness. If I had to pick a single favorite between the two Omokgyo ramens, it would be the motsu ramen, purely for the presence of that pork intestine.

One spoonful of the secret spicy sauce turns it into karai ramen
Following the eating guide, we enjoyed it plain at first, then added a spoonful of the secret spicy sauce 🔥 It instantly transformed into a spicy, tangy karai ramen — just one spoonful was enough to noticeably bring up the heat.

Tamagobap (egg rice bowl), 3,000 won
Tamagobap is a rice bowl topped with egg omelet strips and pork.

I stirred it gently with my chopsticks and dipped it into the ramen broth — the egg strips were soft and silky, and the rice grains soaked up the broth to become moist. This is definitely where you fill up on carbs haha.

Frequently asked questions about Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch
How do you get three different flavors out of one bowl?

Is Gyedan Ramen very different from ramen in Japan?
It's described as a milder, more Korean-style take rather than the bold, saltier flavor typical of ramen in Japan.
