My ends were so damaged I couldn't go out with my hair down anymore. Cutting it wasn't an option since I'm growing it out to match my ideal look, so while searching for a salon near home in Sinjeong-dong I found this Sinjeong Negeori clinic and went to AVA Hair Sinjeongnegeori Station Branch! Coming out of Exit 3 of Sinjeong Negeori Station on Line 2 and walking straight toward Daiso, it's less than a 5-minute walk — right by the station. It's on the 2nd floor of the building right next to Daiso, so it really stands out and is easy to find!!

I booked through Naver and got seated right away with zero wait, which was so convenient. Plus, booking through Naver gets you discounts and decent points, so as a tip I'd definitely recommend reserving before you go!

You could see the whole Sinjeong Negeori intersection from inside, which felt kind of nice haha. It was Friday so customers kept coming in, but the staff greeted everyone kindly!

Inside AVA Hair Sinjeongnegeori Station Branch, the cut and perm areas are separated and spacious, so the seats aren't crammed together — it's roomy, so I could get my treatment done comfortably without worrying about other people's eyes the whole time. Even with a lot of customers, it never felt cramped..?

There were single seats off to the side too, which looked great for private care! The single seats were right next to the shampoo room, so moving between them looked easy too!

What happens in the Shiseido protein-filling clinic, stage by stage

Stage 0: the Shiseido shampoo care

My hair was washed with a dedicated Shiseido shampoo. Apparently it's not just cleansing — it's a deep-cleansing step that removes old buildup and fine residue from the hair and scalp. They leave the shampoo on for about 5 minutes.

Stages 1 and 2, plus the heat treatment

Once my hair was clean, they applied the step 1 and 2 formulas that seriously load in moisture and protein! The deputy director joined in too, which felt kind of neat..? The whole atmosphere had her walking around continuously checking on every customer's condition!!

They do a warm heat treatment so the nutrients can sink deep into the hair, and they even wrap it in plastic haha. They gave me a drink too, so I sipped cold green tea and just relaxed and healed.

Can you get the same results with a home hair care kit?

(For those wondering haha) Short answer: getting the exact same effect is basically impossible! I've tried the trendy treatments, ampoules, and heat-cap gadgets at home myself, and it's clearly different from the salon — at home it feels more like just preventing further damage rather than actually restoring it. And above all, it's just too much of a hassle haha.

Stages 3 and 4, plus the steam treatment

After the heat treatment, they rinse lightly with just water and move straight into the next step. They layer in nutrients once more, and this time do a moist steam treatment!! Doing the absorption process twice means the effect is bound to be great.. Best clinic I've had so far!

Absorb well, absorb well~~ they leave it for 10 minutes!! Looking at the photos it seems quick, but the actual treatment took about 1 hour 30 minutes total — more work goes into it than you'd think, and they keep massaging it in while each ampoule step absorbs!!

The finishing mask pack that seals the hair

The final step is a Shiseido mask pack that locks in the protein and moisture so it can't escape. Left on for another 10 minutes, then rinsed off — done!!!

How my hair looked right after the clinic, and a week later

After the clinic, back at my seat while drying my hair, I could feel the softness even without touching it, you know? Before the treatment the ends were split and messy and it was really upsetting, but in just 1 hour 30 minutes I had completely smooth, glossy hair!!

The crazy part is it's almost a week since the treatment and my hair is still smooth and glossy!!
