In short
Dwaeji Galbi Dwaegal Gongmyeong Soba Dapsimni Station Main Branch is a Korean BBQ pork rib restaurant near Dapsimni Station in Dongdaemun, Seoul. On a late weekend visit, two servings of pork ribs (600g), seafood doenjang rice, and a bowl of cold noodles for dessert delivered thick, juicy meat over strong heat. Verdict: spacious, clean, and friendly enough for a family dinner or a group outing, with parking and valet right out front.

What's the interior like?

The interior of Dwaegal Gongmyeong, a Dapsimni pork ribs favorite, felt spacious and clean overall. With various table sizes — 2-person, 4-person, 8-person — it looked comfortable for a date, a family meal, or a group gathering alike.
We visited a bit late on a weekend evening. I was surprised at how many people were still there even at that late hour.
I also took some photos of the interior when there were no customers around. The gap between tables wasn't cramped at all, so it looked comfortable for chatting with family or friends over a meal.
Menu and prices

- Marinated pork ribs 300g ₩19,000
- Marinated pork neck 300g ₩17,000
Marinated ribs is a menu item I've seen many times so it felt familiar, but marinated pork neck seemed like a less common option. I was curious to try it, but since it was our first visit, we decided to go with the signature dish.

Each table has a tablet ordering system, so you can conveniently order from your seat. Besides marinated ribs, there's pork belly, beef short rib meat, hanwoo (Korean beef) sashimi, and hanwoo yukhoe (beef tartare). For meal options, there's galbitang (rib soup), stir-fried pork on a hot plate, and beef tartare bibimbap (lunch only). Side dishes include cold noodles, steamed egg, rolled egg, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), and seafood doenjang rice.
Banchan and dongchimi

After ordering the meat, they set up the side dishes first while we waited. There's cheongpomuk (mung bean jelly), dried radish, pickled radish, cabbage salad, and — perfect with pork ribs — pickled onions, plus lettuce and cabbage for wraps, scallion salad, and sweet pumpkin and potato to go alongside.
They also bring a cold dongchimi (watery radish kimchi) broth with a thin layer of ice floating in it, and this is genuinely a treat. One bite of meat, one sip of dongchimi — a fantastic combination.

They cover the well-heated grill with a blanket of pork ribs in one swift motion, topping it off with the potato and sweet pumpkin that came with it.

The marinated pork ribs at Dwaegal Gongmyeong, a Dapsimni pork ribs favorite, had a vivid color and a thick cut that looked high quality. The marinade was well soaked in through the score marks.
Once the ribs hit the grill, they started sizzling deliciously. Just watching the meat turn golden brown already made my mouth water in anticipation.
Once it's cooked enough, they cut it up so it grills evenly all over. Quick and efficient! Taking a bite of the golden-brown meat, the sweet-savory marinade paired with a nutty richness was really delicious.
The pork ribs at Dwaegal Gongmyeong, a Dapsimni pork favorite, were tender with juicy, flavorful fat still intact — the more you chewed, the more savory it got!

And the marinade on the ribs wasn't overpowering, with a nice umami that kept me reaching for more. Addictive pork ribs flavor! It's the kind of taste anyone, young or old, would like, making it a perfect dinner-out option. Thinking back, I remember going out to eat pork ribs with my family a lot as a kid. Cutting it up quickly like that means it cooks just right without burning.
The heat was really strong too, so the meat cooked through without feeling slow, which I liked. Cooking over low heat for a long time can dry the meat out as the juices escape, but the strong heat here was very much to my liking.
Dwaegal Gongmyeong's pork ribs weren't tough at all — tender enough that the more you chewed, the more savory and clean the flavor was.

Eating it together with the pickled onions or scallion salad really brought the flavor of the meat to life even more. Personally, I think onion plus sesame-oil dipping sauce is the best pairing for pork ribs, no matter what anyone says.

Seafood doenjang rice, ₩9,000
Eating just the meat felt a bit lacking, so we ordered seafood doenjang rice to go along with it!

The seafood doenjang rice came out in such a huge portion that our jaws dropped the moment it arrived, and with blue crab in it too, the broth was refreshing and full of umami. You really have to have rice as a Korean!

Putting a piece of meat on top of the seafood doenjang rice — chomp!

There was also a huge amount of scallion salad, and piling it on generously made it fragrant and a bit sharp, which went really well with the sweet pork ribs.
If any side dishes run low while eating, there's a self-serve corner. Overall the vegetables — cabbage, potato, sweet pumpkin, onion, and more — all felt very fresh.
The best part of pork ribs has to be the meat still attached to the bone. Especially the meat clinging to the rib bone — chewy yet tender, and truly delicious. Maybe because it's bone-in, the flavor felt even richer, plus there's the fun of gnawing it off the bone.
Cold noodles for dessert, ₩5,000
Seasoned with mustard and vinegar, then slurp. After the meat, finishing with cold noodles for dessert left my mouth feeling refreshed and clean. Cold noodles really are the perfect partner for pork ribs. The broth was cool and tangy, the noodles chewy — perfect for a hot day.

It also paired wonderfully with the sweet flavor of the pork ribs — topping it with a piece of meat and eating them together was as good as it gets.

Perks and family-friendly conveniences
Dwaegal Gongmyeong, a Dapsimni pork ribs favorite, also has various perks and services — writing a review can get you skincare products, and thanks to a partnership with a nearby gym, gym members get a ₩5,000 discount coupon for Dwaegal Gongmyeong. Working out at the gym and then refueling on protein here sounds great!
And besides skincare products, you can also get ice cream for writing a review — either Lala Sweet or Bungeo Ssamanco! Eating meat, writing a review, and finishing with ice cream sounds like the perfect combo.
The restaurant also has baby chairs, making it easy to bring the whole family, and there's a restroom inside, which was convenient. There's also a TV inside, adding a livelier atmosphere to the meal, which I appreciated.

After finishing the meal, there was a nice variety of after-dinner treats too — yakult, candy, coffee, and more.
Final thoughts
Dwaegal Gongmyeong, a Dapsimni pork ribs favorite, is clean overall with high-quality pork ribs, making it a place I'd want to return to whenever I'm craving them.
There were plenty of side dishes to pair with the pork ribs, and all of them matched the ribs really well, which made the meal even better. The staff and the owner were friendly too, so it was a genuinely pleasant meal.
I also liked that parking is available right in front of the restaurant, making it easy to visit even if you're driving. If you're looking for a great pork ribs spot in Dapsimni, I'd recommend giving Dwaegal Gongmyeong a try.
