Ever found yourself agonizing over "where should we eat meat tonight?" on a weekend evening, only to end up disappointed at some mediocre chain?

There are plenty of pork ribs restaurants, but places that deliver both real marinade flavor and generous warmth at the same time are surprisingly hard to find. Anhung Galbi Main Branch, beloved for a long time as an old-school meat restaurant, can put an end to your meat-restaurant wandering once and for all.

A full spread of banchan at Anhung Galbi Main Branch

Banchan — scallion salad and marinated crab

Every single one of the side dishes was delicious.

Scallion salad eaten together with pork ribs

This scallion salad is a magic trick. Why can't I ever get this flavor at home? It seems like it would pair well with pork belly too.

Kimchi side dish made with fall napa cabbage

Fall seems to be coming — the napa cabbage is starting to taste right.

A ribs restaurant just isn't complete without marinated crab.

The moment they brought out quality charcoal, I knew instantly — this place is the real deal.

Raw handmade marinated pork ribs

Not store-bought — handmade pork ribs made in-house. There are two options, pork ribs and marinated pork neck, but since I'm a pork ribs person, I ordered the pork ribs.

Even before tasting it, the cut and color of the meat practically spell out 'delicious.'

Chewy texture without relying on tenderizer

Second round, wrapped in a lettuce leaf. When too much tenderizer is used on pork ribs, that chewy bite completely disappears — but Anhung Galbi, an old-school meat restaurant, is different. That chewiness is still there. The texture is really good.

Pork ribs wrapped in lettuce

I love eating it wrapped, so I go for one more bite, with a shot of soju poured in too.

When I want something spicy-sweet, a bite of the marinated crab hits the spot perfectly.

The free doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) means I'm never missing a soup.

Garlic, radish salad, pork ribs, lettuce = straight into my mouth.

One free naengmyeon per person

Free dessert water naengmyeon, one per person

They serve just the right amount of naengmyeon (cold noodles) for a palate cleanser, and it's free. The pork ribs were already amazing, and then they give you noodles on top of that...! The water naengmyeon broth is so refreshing it makes the ribs go down smoothly.

Spicy mixed naengmyeon wrapped up with pork ribs — you know that unwritten rule, right?

Empty dishes and kimchi plate after the meal

Ending today with a clean plate of kimchi, as always. If you want to enjoy delicious meat and a warm atmosphere with people you love, don't hesitate to visit!

There are about two dedicated parking spots in front of the restaurant, but it can get crowded during peak times. It's recommended to call ahead to check parking availability or to use public transportation.

Pork ribs are by far the most popular. The combination of tender raw meat and the special marinade is excellent, making it the must-order item for most visitors.

Is the dessert naengmyeon really free?

Yes, customers who order a meat meal receive a free dessert naengmyeon. You can choose between water naengmyeon and spicy mixed naengmyeon.

Is it a good spot for group gatherings or company dinners?

The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating, making it well-suited for family outings or group dinners. During my visit, both the 1st and 2nd floors had families of 8 or more. For larger groups than that, advance reservations are recommended.
