I visited Anhung Galbi, famous as a pork ribs spot in Jangan-dong. It's a storied restaurant that has been running for four generations since 1981.

The moment they brought out quality charcoal, I knew instantly — this place is the real deal.

Not store-bought — handmade pork ribs made in-house. There are two options, pork ribs and marinated pork neck, but since I'm a pork ribs person, I ordered the pork ribs.

After a period of patient waiting... grilled to a nice golden brown.

Even before tasting it, the cut and color of the meat practically spell out 'delicious.'

Chewy texture without relying on tenderizer

Second round, wrapped in a lettuce leaf. When too much tenderizer is used on pork ribs, that chewy bite completely disappears — but Anhung Galbi, an old-school meat restaurant, is different. That chewiness is still there. The texture is really good.

I love eating it wrapped, so I go for one more bite, with a shot of soju poured in too.

When I want something spicy-sweet, a bite of the marinated crab hits the spot perfectly.

The free doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) means I'm never missing a soup.

One free naengmyeon per person

They serve just the right amount of naengmyeon (cold noodles) for a palate cleanser, and it's free. The pork ribs were already amazing, and then they give you noodles on top of that...! The water naengmyeon broth is so refreshing it makes the ribs go down smoothly.
