Seafood jjamppong and tangsuyuk in Jung-dong, Bucheon: Jjambbong Jijon

I heard there was a place pretty famous for jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) in Bucheon's Jung-dong, so I went to check it out. I already like a spicy jjamppong on a normal day, and every time I passed this place there were tons of customers and delivery scooters, so I got curious just how good it could be. So this time I finally tried it myself, and it turned out even better than I expected — very satisfying.

Where is Jjambbong Jijon Bucheon Jung-dong Branch, and where do you park?

This Sinjungdong go-to spot for jjamppong is near the center of Bucheon's Jung-dong, so it wasn't hard to find at all.

Right across the street is Jungang Park, and there are department stores and marts nearby too, so it seemed like a pretty convenient spot to build a whole outing around, before or after eating. It's also walking distance from Bucheon City Hall Station, so getting there by public transit is easy too.

I used the building's basement parking lot, which was free, and apparently a nearby public parking lot works too, so keep that in mind.

What Jjambbong Jijon feels like the moment you walk in

Walking inside, I was surprised at how spacious the dining hall was.

There are plenty of sleekly renovated Chinese restaurants these days, but this place has that particular feel of a spot that's been established for a long time — a genuine local favorite. And as it got closer to dinnertime, people kept streaming in one after another until, before I knew it, the tables were almost completely full.

Seeing the delivery orders keep coming in too, I thought — no wonder this place has a reputation as a Sinjungdong, Bucheon favorite. It's open late, so it's handy to drop by even if your mealtime is a bit off-schedule. The kitchen is open-style, so you can catch a glimpse of the cooking, and overall the place is spacious and clean, making it a decent option for a family visit too.

What's on the menu at Jjambbong Jijon

As you'd expect from a jjamppong specialty restaurant, Jjambbong Jijon Bucheon Jung-dong Branch has basic jjamppong, jjamppong rice, sujebi jjamppong (hand-torn noodle soup), and more — plus non-jjamppong options like soft tofu jjamppong, jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), and fried rice.

There are also side dishes like tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) and dumplings, which made it a great setup for ordering a bunch of things to share with a group. The self-bar has rice and side dishes ready to use freely, which is handy if you want to mix rice into your jjamppong broth.

What we ordered at Jjambbong Jijon

This time I wanted to try a good variety, so I ordered like this:

• Soft tofu jjamppong
• Seafood jjamppong
• Small tangsuyuk
• Jjamppong dumplings

At a Chinese restaurant, ordering just one thing never feels like a proper meal — you've gotta mix it up haha.

Soft tofu jjamppong

The soft tofu jjamppong came out first, and it already looked pretty appetizing.

There was a generous amount of soft tofu piled on top of the red jjamppong broth, giving it a totally different feel from the regular noodle-based jjamppong.

The broth was spicy but felt a bit gentler thanks to the tofu, and scooping up the tofu with a spoon alongside the broth, the spicy soup and soft texture went surprisingly well together. If you like spicy food but find overly intense flavors a bit much, the soft tofu jjamppong could be a good choice.

Seafood jjamppong

And then the seafood jjamppong I'd been looking forward to arrived too — the red broth loaded with seafood and vegetables looked spicy just from the sight of it.

Taking one spoonful of the broth first, it was sharp and savory, with a distinct seafood aroma layered in — properly jjamppong-like in the best way.

The noodles paired well with the broth too, and picking out the seafood bits here and there was fun — a bowl of this left me feeling really satisfyingly full. If you're someone who loves a spicy broth, I think you'd really enjoy this style.

Small tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork)

It felt like a shame to just eat jjamppong, so I ordered a small tangsuyuk too. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, it was perfect for picking off pieces while working through the jjamppong.

The small size meant it wasn't too much, and worked well shared alongside the jjamppong with a group. Dipped in the sweet and sour sauce, it paired nicely with the spicy jjamppong. Eating jjamppong along with tangsuyuk really made it feel like a proper Chinese restaurant visit haha.

Jjamppong dumplings, the side dish worth adding

Lastly, out of curiosity, I also ordered the jjamppong dumplings. Unlike regular fried dumplings, these had a spicy kick reminiscent of jjamppong, giving them a slightly different feel from plain dumplings.

Crispy on the outside and juicy inside, the texture was solid too. Taking a sip of the jjamppong broth then picking up a dumpling, the spicy-crispy combo kept me reaching for more. If you're picking just one side dish, this one is worth ordering at least once.

Is Jjambbong Jijon in Jung-dong, Bucheon worth it? Final verdict

At first I just assumed it was a Chinese restaurant known for good jjamppong, but after eating there myself, I found the menu options were varied and the portions hearty, making it a good spot for family visits or for sharing a variety of dishes among a group.

What stood out most was watching the dining hall keep filling up as dinnertime approached. With delivery orders continuously coming in too, it definitely felt like a place that's well loved by the local community.
