Siheung meat restaurant limited to 300 portions a day: Bulhyangjip
In short
Bulhyangjip Mulwang Lake Main Branch is a charcoal bulgogi restaurant tucked inside the Mulwang Reservoir area of Siheung, Gyeonggi, and it sells only 300 portions a day. The weekday lunch set for two costs 41,800 won after a 5,000 won discount and comes with two servings of scallion bulgogi, countryside grandma's doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), the signature bibim guksu (cold spicy noodles) and a bowl of rice. Both sides at Bulhyangjip were good enough that picking a favorite was impossible, which explains its reputation around Mulwang Reservoir.

I visited Bulhyangjip, a Siheung restaurant famous around Mulwang Reservoir. How famous? It's tucked into the inner part of the reservoir, yet people still find it — there's even a wait on weekends. They only sell 300 portions a day, so go early!!

Here's the exterior. The parking lot is behind the building, so keep driving up to reach it.

Even the entrance interior is gorgeous.

They're designated seats, so you need a stroller or carrier to enter — worth checking availability before you visit. Just remember to bring your dog's vaccination certificate or record!

Floor seats, terrace and self-serve bar inside Bulhyangjip
The place is clean and spacious overall, and you can tell a lot of older customers come here. You know what they say — where the older crowd goes, that's the real food spot.
There's floor seating too, which looks great for group reservations.

And the most popular spot — the terrace seats!! The windows open right up, so on a nice day it feels like eating outdoors. I wanted to sit there, but the terrace was fully booked when I arrived,,

There's also a self-serve bar near the front where you can refill any side dishes you run out of.

Weekday lunch set for two at 41,800 won, with 5,000 won off
If you ask me to choose between the side dishes — bibim guksu or doenjang jjigae — my answer is both. Seriously, both are so good I can't pick.

But if you visit on a weekday and order the lunch set, problem solved — you get a whopping ₩5,000 off!

Check the ordering guide — it also shows you how to eat everything.

You can choose between scallion bulgogi and gochujang bulgogi! Since it was my first visit, I was curious about the basic scallion bulgogi, and I'd read reviews saying the scallions served with it were delicious, so I went with that.

A good variety of basic side dishes came out. All of them are made in-house, and they're genuinely all delicious.
You can watch the meat get its first grilling right in front of you. That one being grilled right now — that's ours!! Hurry up and bring it, please ㅠㅠ

Charcoal scallion bulgogi: why the scallions make the dish
The scallion bulgogi comes fully cooked and ready to eat right away. Scallions are piled high on top — from above it genuinely looks like pajeon (scallion pancake). Now let me eat it the way the staff showed us!

First, add the garlic and sliced cheongyang chili that come as a basic side into the special sauce.
Then dip the bulgogi and scallions into the special sauce.

Bulgogi + scallion + special sauce combo — pure bliss. Since it's already partially grilled beforehand, you get that smoky charcoal flavor the moment you take a bite. So good.
The scallions are especially the kicker here. They genuinely get tastier the longer they grill, so keep grilling them as long as possible without burning!

Countryside grandma's doenjang jjigae vs the signature bibim guksu
The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) is made with aged traditional soybean paste, they say. It's literally called "countryside grandma's doenjang jjigae" — how could I not order it?

Bulhyangjip's doenjang jjigae has soft tofu in it! Just looking at the broth color, you know it can't be bad — and sure enough it's rich and tastes exactly like something you'd eat in the countryside. This might be one of the best doenjang jjigaes I've had at a Korean BBQ place.
I mixed it into my rice, and the seasoning was spot on — it's a total rice-thief ㅠ

And then the signature bibim guksu (mixed cold noodles)! It's topped with chicory, onion, and kimchi. I'm someone who prefers a clean bibim guksu over one loaded with a bunch of vegetables, and this hit the spot perfectly haha. It looks seriously delicious too.

The portion is huge too. It's a broth-heavy style of bibim guksu, and the seasoning soaks all the way into the noodles — really tasty. It had a tangy edge with a nutty finish.

You really have to eat it together with the bulgogi — the combo works so well. The kimchi mixed into the noodles paired beautifully too.

Is Bulhyangjip worth the trip to Mulwang Reservoir?
The portions were genuinely huge, but we cleaned every plate. Bottom line: this place has earned its reputation as the go-to spot around Mulwang Reservoir.
