Why we picked Songnim Bok Jangeo for a family dinner in Siheung Baegot

Songnim Bok Jangeo Unlimited Freshwater Eel Siheung Baegot Direct Branch is an all-you-can-eat eel restaurant in the Baegot new town. We'd just driven 12 hours over a two-day trip to see family and my nephew, and I was completely wiped out. I figured it'd be way too busy on the actual holiday, so we went ahead of time — and when you're this tired and drained, food really is medicine! Eel is the perfect menu for a family meal. It'd been a while since I went to an all-you-can-eat eel place, so let me share the great value pricing and menu here~~!

Side dishes from the self-serve bar

Self-serve bar corner at Songnim Bok Jangeo

At all-you-can-eat places, you feel a little self-conscious about refilling, right? Is it just me~? Ordering an extra portion means paying out of pocket... but with all-you-can-eat, it somehow feels like you're eating too much. At Songnim Bok Jangeo you just grab what you want from the self-serve bar, so you can eat plenty without feeling awkward about it!

Eel, pork belly, and duck neck are also here. Clean, neatly arranged side dishes at the self-serve bar~

Green onion kimchi, seasoned perilla leaves, white kimchi and other self-serve side dishes

Green onion kimchi, seasoned perilla leaves, ginger, pickled onion, white kimchi, chili peppers, garlic! They even put out plenty of lettuce. Eating them with the side dishes adds a tangy kick that makes everything taste even better! I especially liked the perilla leaf + ginger combo, or white kimchi with pickled onion!

Eel, pork belly and duck neck: what 29,900 won gets you

Eel and pork belly on the charcoal grill

Since it's an eel restaurant, I figured eating eel was the smart move, and that pork belly and duck neck were probably just there for show — total wrong assumption!!!! My sibling and I tried the pork belly and were shocked. The color looked great and the meat was delicious — the two of us ate about 4 servings of pork belly alone...

The eel was thick and satisfying to eat... it's perfect paired with pickled perilla leaves!! Freshwater eel can get greasy, but this combo wipes that greasiness right out.

Eel and pork belly piled into a mountain on the grill

There were three of us, and even piling pork belly and eel into a mountain on the grill, nobody said a word... it was so great... boss, is it really okay to eat this much? All-you-can-eat is truly the best!!!

Bokbunja with grilled eel is a must

A bottle of cham bokbunja ordered at Songnim Bok Jangeo

You know bokbunja (black raspberry wine) is a perfect match with eel, right~? Since we were eating it anyway, we skipped soju and went with bokbunja~~ The cham bokbunja is only ₩9,000! Great value alcohol, so we tried a whole bottle!

Bokbunja wine poured into a glass
Glass of bokbunja set alongside the grilled meat

A sweet fruity aroma fills your mouth, tangy-sweet with a gentle sweetness~ I've always had the Bobae brand bokbunja, but this cham bokbunja was pretty tasty too~~? The drinks just kept going down easy..!!!!

Eel grilling with garlic over charcoal

The eel's color looked so good! We grilled garlic alongside it and I honestly lost count of how many plates we went through~ Once the eel hits the charcoal grill, it takes on a subtle smoky aroma with maxed-out savoriness!! No bones either, so all you have to do is enjoy the springy, chewy eel!

Lettuce wrap piled with pork belly and eel

My sibling mastered the pork belly + eel lettuce wrap combo. It had been a while since we ate until we were stuffed~~ Eel is honestly pricey, so it always felt like a splurge for a family meal in Siheung, but Songnim Bok Jangeo Unlimited Freshwater Eel Siheung Baegot Direct Branch is so reasonably priced you can eat well without the guilt!

Is Songnim Bok Jangeo worth it for a family dinner in Baegot?

Table at Songnim Bok Jangeo after finishing the meal

For days when you want to eat until you're stuffed~ days you want to take care of your body~ family meals, company dinners! This is a place I'd recommend without hesitation. People who aren't big fans of eel can just eat the pork belly or duck neck instead, which makes it the perfect spot for someone like me who has trouble deciding.
