It's been getting pretty cool in the mornings and evenings lately, but still hot during the day..ㅠ Maybe because of the big temperature swings, my condition really dropped. I felt sluggish and my appetite wasn't what it used to be, so I went out to get a proper meal for once.

Inside Morang Haemul Sotbap: seating and space for team dinners

Upscale interior of the restaurant

At first I was expecting a typical Korean restaurant, but walking in I was surprised — it was much~ classier than I imagined haha

Dining hall with wood-tone tables and soft lighting
Tables spaced generously apart

The wood-tone tables and soft lighting gave the whole place a warm, calm feel, and the tables were spaced generously apart. There's everything from small independent spaces great for small gatherings to group seating, so it seems like it'd work well for family meals, work dinners, or other get-togethers?!!

Seating area on a weekday early evening

I visited on a weekday during an early evening slot, and there were families dining there.

Morang Haemul Sotbap menu and prices we ordered

Menu board listing sotbap, jeon, and makgeolli

The menu is centered on various types of sotbap, along with jeon (savory pancakes), side dishes for drinking, and makgeolli (rice wine). Good for just a meal, and also good for pairing jeon with makgeolli in the evening!

  • Octopus-scallop sotbap ₩16,000
  • Eel sotbap ₩23,000

For reference, Morang says they use premium-grade rice milled within 7 days and a special broth simmered daily to cook the rice — and honestly, once I tasted it, the rice itself was really good even without any toppings haha

Octopus and scallop sotbap: why the rice itself stood out

First up is the octopus-scallop sotbap!

Chunky octopus and scallops piled on top of the rice — doesn't it look delicious just from the visuals?!!

Sotbap with burdock root mixed in

There was burdock root mixed into the rice, lightly seasoned, so even without any side dishes the rice alone wasn't boring — it was nutty and had a nice chew, so it was really good haha

Moist sotbap topped with seafood

In particular, the rice wasn't too mushy or too firm — it was moist yet soft, exactly to my taste. The seafood was chewy and fresh too, so I think this would be a great spot to visit with kids.

Eel sotbap with pickled ginger: the best combination of the meal

When your energy's down, you can't skip eel haha

The eel sotbap came piled high with seasoned grilled eel, looking hearty just by sight.

Soft eel cut with a spoon

The softly cooked eel cut easily even with just a spoon, and the sweet-savory sauce went really well with the rice.

Personally, the combo I liked the best was putting eel on the rice and adding a little pickled ginger on top haha. It came with a variety of basic side dishes and a soup too, so it was a nice, tidy full-table meal!

The atmosphere was satisfying and parking was convenient, so it seemed like a good spot for family gatherings, work dinners, and other get-togethers. If you're craving a warm, tidy meal on a day with a big temperature swing like these, give Morang Haemul Sotbap Jungja Station branch a try!
