Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam, a Namwirye Station restaurant made even better by all-you-can-eat beef

On shabu-shabu days I get to eat plenty of vegetables and still fill up on meat, so it's a menu I often think of for family meals out. This time we went to Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch, a restaurant near Namwirye Station. Here you can enjoy shabu-shabu and Vietnamese wraps together while helping yourself to unlimited beef. On top of that, there's kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), sujebi, fried rice, and even coffee and ice cream after the meal, so it's great for eating with kids too.

Building your own shabu-shabu bowl at the Dadam vegetable self-bar

The self-bar at Dadam Shabu Shabu Wirye Branch is really generously stocked. You just bring back what you'll eat, so the all-you-can-eat setup works well. A wide variety of ingredients for shabu-shabu, including vegetables and mushrooms, is prepared so you can pick whatever suits your taste.

When I eat shabu-shabu I like to add as many vegetables as meat, and being able to bring back as much as I want suited me perfectly. Rather than piling on a huge amount at once, bringing small portions and adding more as I went meant I could keep enjoying it warm right to the end.

Is the beef really all-you-can-eat at Dadam?

What you can't skip at Dadam Shabu Shabu is the unlimited beef. This isn't a shabu-shabu place where only the vegetables are refillable — being able to bring back as much meat as you want was definitely the draw.

Once the broth started boiling, we put in the vegetables first, then lightly cooked the beef and ate it together. Finishing a full plate of meat and being able to just go get more without worrying about quantity made it feel like real shabu-shabu. It was a good Namwirye Station restaurant to visit on a day you want to eat shabu-shabu until you're full. It would also be great for group gatherings!

Vietnamese wraps (wolnamssam) packed with fresh vegetables

At Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch you can also make wolnamssam (Vietnamese-style rice paper wraps) alongside the shabu-shabu. A separate range of vegetables for the wraps is prepared, so you just pick what you want to put in the rice paper.

I loaded mine up with plenty of vegetables and topped it with shabu-shabu beef before rolling it up. Getting meat and vegetables in one bite felt like a nice change from eating shabu-shabu alone. The kids also seemed to enjoy the meal more when they picked their own ingredients and made the wraps themselves. It's a Namwirye Station restaurant where you can eat a lot of healthy vegetables — Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam!

Second course at Dadam: kalguksu, rice noodles, sujebi and rice cakes

Dadam Shabu Shabu Wirye Branch doesn't stop once you've had your fill of meat and vegetables. The self-bar also has kalguksu, rice noodles, sujebi and rice cakes ready to add into the broth.

By the time you've been eating shabu-shabu for a while, the broth is deepened with vegetable and meat flavor, and adding noodles or sujebi feels like the start of a second course. We added mandu, rice cakes and sujebi.

Rice, raw egg and seaweed are all generously prepared too, so you can make your own porridge or fried rice. Do make sure to save some broth for it! I ate too many noodles and couldn't get to the porridge, which was such a shame. Since you can mix and match to your taste, it was great for a family visit.

Free ice cream and coffee at the Dadam dessert corner

There was no need to get up and leave right after eating. Ice cream and coffee are ready for dessert. The kids headed straight for the ice cream as soon as they finished, while the adults could relax with a cup of coffee.
