Bundang kalguksu restaurant, gyoza dumplings to go: Gangnam Gyoja
In short
Gangnam Gyoja Bundang Seohyeon Branch is a kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant in Seohyeon, Seongnam, one minute on foot from Seohyeon Station Exit 5, on the second floor of the Daeppang Arcade building. Visiting with mom on a weekday after 1pm, the writer ordered kalguksu and spicy kalguksu at 10,000 won each plus gyoza dumplings at 11,000 won, and the servings were so large the leftover dumplings went home in a takeout box. The chicken broth and the strongly garlicky kimchi made Gangnam Gyoja a place worth returning to once the weather turns cold.

It's been so hot this summer that hot soup was the last thing on my mind, but about a week ago the weather suddenly turned autumn-like! I got a craving for the Myeongdong Gyoja-style kalguksu I usually love, so I went with mom. A Bundang favorite for kalguksu, 'Gangnam Gyoja Bundang Seohyeon Branch.'
Where is Gangnam Gyoja Bundang Seohyeon Branch, and what are its hours?
Gangnam Gyoja Bundang Seohyeon Branch is a 1-minute walk from Seohyeon Station Exit 5, on the 2nd floor of the Daeppang Arcade building. Hours are Mon–Fri 11:00–21:00 (break time 15:00–16:30, last order 14:30, 20:30), Sat–Sun 11:30–21:00 (break time 15:30–17:00, last order 15:00, 20:30). Parking is available inside the building.

We had errands at AK Plaza, so we parked there and walked over — close and convenient. There's also parking inside the building itself, so it's a fine spot even if you're driving!
Inside Gangnam Gyoja and what is on the menu

We visited a weekday afternoon after 1pm, and even past peak hours there were quite a few customers — it's famous enough as a Seohyeon Station lunch spot that plenty of solo diners were there too. Not an awkward place to eat alone at all! The restaurant was bigger and more comfortable than I expected, and since tables turn over fast with this kind of menu, even a wait would probably clear quickly. The staff were kind too, haha.

Ordering was via kiosk, payment done right at the table — so convenient! 👍 With prices these days, is there anywhere else you can get such a filling meal for 10,000 won? The price is more than reasonable, and I'd recommend it as a Seohyeon Station lunch spot.

Disposable aprons hanging on one wall. If you're worried about soup splashing on light-colored clothes, I'd recommend putting one on!

There's also a baby chair by the entrance, so you can eat worry-free even if you're visiting with little ones!

Unlimited rice refills and the receipt review freebie
And Gangnam Gyoja, the kalguksu favorite in Seohyeon-dong...
- Unlimited rice refills
- Running a Naver receipt review event for homemade tteokgalbi or a canned drink
Unlimited rice refills seemed perfect for big eaters, and since the Naver review event is going on, it might be worth taking part too, haha!
How do the kalguksu, spicy kalguksu and gyoza dumplings taste?
What we ordered at Gangnam Gyoja Bundang Seohyeon Branch: kalguksu ₩10,000, spicy kalguksu ₩10,000, gyoza dumplings ₩11,000. Here's what we got!

The spoons and chopsticks came individually wrapped — a small thing, but it made me think they really care about hygiene! 👍 The dishes came out quickly, not long after ordering.

The hot, rich chicken-broth soup was the best part — plenty of meat and four dumplings mixed right in. The noodles weren't stiff at all, sliding down smoothly, so even when full you just keep eating!

Juicy gyoza dumplings 🥟 — different from the dumplings inside the kalguksu, these had a strong meaty flavor and the wrapper wasn't too thick, so they were delicious! (Our kalguksu portions were so huge that we left the dumplings and took them home, haha.)

First time trying the spicy kalguksu — the base kalguksu with an added spicy kick, rich but sharp, so I'd recommend it as a hangover-curing kalguksu, haha.

Another kick from Gangnam Gyoja is that strong-garlic kimchi — such a perfect match with the kalguksu and dumplings, so tasty! If you ask, staff will come over and serve you more themselves, haha.
Is Gangnam Gyoja Bundang Seohyeon worth a visit?
If you're looking for a great kalguksu spot in Seohyeon, Bundang, this is the one I'd recommend! Great for a Seohyeon Station lunch, and with a clean interior and fast service, it's more than fit for busy office workers' lunch breaks too. With the weather turning cool, I'll be back again soon!
