Bucheon samgyetang restaurant, 10-minute ticket wait: Oi Samgyetang
In short
Oi Samgyetang Bucheon Main Branch is a samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Neulpureun shopping center in Sangdong, Bucheon, Gyeonggi. At weekend lunch, a number pulled from the ticket machine at the 2nd floor entrance meant about a 10-minute wait before a clay-pot samgyetang arrived, with rich broth, chicken tender enough to pull apart with chopsticks, and sticky rice packed inside. With separate baeksam and hongsam private rooms, Oi Samgyetang is an easy choice for a family meal.

Whenever the weather starts to turn, I always start craving something nourishing for the body. There's a place my family goes back to whenever we're in the mood for samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) — Oi Samgyetang. It's not a one-and-done spot; we keep coming back whenever the craving hits, and this time was no exception, it's been a while 😀 As usual, the place was packed with customers. Here's how our hearty meal went 😋
Where is Oi Samgyetang Bucheon Main Branch, and what are its hours?
Oi Samgyetang Bucheon Main Branch is at 87 Jomaru-ro, units 101 and 202, Neulpureun Jonghap Sangga, Wonmi-gu, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do. Hours are Mon–Sun 11:00–21:00, last order at 20:20, closed during the Chuseok holiday Sep 24–26. Parking is free, and reservations, takeout, group dining, and delivery are all available.
Pulling a ticket on the 2nd floor and waiting in the 1st floor rest area

Oi Samgyetang is located on the 2nd floor of the Neulpureun Jonghap Sangga building.

Right at the entrance you'll see a sign for the customer rest area for Oi Samgyetang, and you head up to the 2nd floor for the actual dining room. On peak dog days of summer, the crowds are so big that waiting lines stretch down to the 1st floor rest area.

Luckily, we got lucky today — we pulled a numbered ticket from the machine right in front of the 2nd floor entrance and could wait upstairs 🙂

After the customers already waiting were seated, we waited about 10 more minutes before getting in 🥹
Inside Oi Samgyetang: main hall and the Baeksam and Hongsam private rooms

The dining room is really spacious and clean, with plenty of regular hall tables set up well.

Toward the back there are separate private rooms — baeksam (white ginseng) and hongsam (red ginseng) — which are great for taking your parents or booking for a family meal if you're in Bucheon. There were a lot of families dining in that day 😀 The private rooms have full window walls, so light pours in and it feels even more bright and pleasant.

On the wall there's a history of Oi Samgyetang posted, tracing back to a small basement shop in an Incheon tool market district in 1997, then a move through Jungdong before landing in its current Sangdong location. You can really feel the reason behind the consistent flavor and care kept up over all these years 👍🏻
Menu: samgyetang varieties, and why baeksuk needs a call ahead

There are more varieties of samgyetang than I expected. Beyond samgyetang, there are also dishes good for sharing like dak-baeksuk (whole boiled chicken), dak-dori-tang (spicy braised chicken), and duck baeksuk. Samgyetang is cooked to order right away, but baeksuk takes about an hour, so it seems you need to call ahead. We went with samgyetang!!
What the clay-pot samgyetang tastes like: broth, chicken and sticky rice

The samgyetang came out piping hot, still bubbling away in the stone pot 🔥
Samgyetang really does need to arrive this hot in a stone pot to taste right 😋
A whole chicken goes into the pot, with a light scattering of green onion and pepper on top.
I tried a spoonful of the broth first — rich and savory, but not heavy at all ✨ Personally I think Oi Samgyetang's broth is genuinely delicious.

The chicken is cooked so thoroughly that just a light touch of the chopsticks pulls the meat apart, soft and tender.

Inside there's also sticky rice, which fills you up nicely when eaten together with the chicken.
Side dishes served with the samgyetang

Several side dishes came out along with the samgyetang — kimchi, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), garlic, and chili peppers, all great for pairing with samgyetang.

Eating a piece of onion with the kkakdugi alongside hot samgyetang — need I say more about that combo 🤭

After a satisfying meal, even my insides felt warmed up.
Is Oi Samgyetang Bucheon Main Branch worth the trip?
- A samgyetang spot we keep coming back to
- Hot, rich broth samgyetang
- Recommended for family meals or nourishing yourself
- Wide range of menu items beyond samgyetang, like dak-baeksuk and duck baeksuk
- Popular restaurant that's busy every time we visit
Oi Samgyetang isn't a especially flashy place, but there's a reason we keep coming back. The broth is hot, the chicken is tender, and one bowl leaves you completely full. If you're craving something nourishing on a warm day, or just want a hot bowl of samgyetang, and you're looking for a good samgyetang restaurant in Bucheon, give Oi Samgyetang a try.
