The weather's been so nice lately... and on days like this it's straight to outdoor BBQ. I heard Jongno 3-ga has a cluster of great outdoor BBQ spots, so I visited on a Sunday evening. Here's my Tapgol Gongwon Jongno 3-ga Branch review!
Sunday 4:45pm walk-in wait: number 13
As of 4:50pm on a Sunday, this was the walk-in wait. I didn't register for table waiting in advance, just showed up as a walk-in around 4:45pm, right before the 5pm opening! By then the number was already 13,,, haha
The picnic basket set at every table
At Tapgol Gongwon Jongno 3-ga Branch, each table has something like a picnic basket next to it where you can grab spoons, cups, and so on! Wet wipes were included too — such a nice touch! (Wish there were tissues too.) Aren't the picnic baskets just so cute, haha.

We visited as a party of two and ordered like this!

I was surprised it came out cheaper than I expected for a famous outdoor BBQ spot. Nice, reasonable pricing.
Self-serve side dishes and quick-frozen pork belly
The basic side dishes came out in a good variety too! Chili peppers, garlic, ssamjang (dipping sauce), seasoned squid jeotgal (fermented squid), bracken fern, green onion kimchi, seasoned bean sprouts, kimchi, wasabi, and more. You know grilling the bracken fern and bean sprouts along with the meat is a real treat, haha. You can keep refilling for free at the self-serve bar.
The frozen pork belly was sliced just right — not too thin, not too thick — perfect for wrapping in a lettuce leaf!
Cool breeze + pork belly + beer = heaven combo. Having cold beer with delicious pork belly made me so happy..♡
Kimchi fried rice to finish the meal
The kimchi fried rice came topped with a fried egg. It was cooked to a perfect soft-yolk finish, which I loved!
The two of us ate our fill and then some with 4 servings of meat! Adding the fried rice, doenjang stew, and steamed egg on top let us finish the meal feeling really satisfied.
