While looking for somewhere in Busan's Marine City where we could enjoy Chinese food with an ocean view, I visited Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch. There are plenty of places around Marine City where you can dine looking out at the sea, but I especially loved that this Chinese restaurant offered ocean views too.

Marine City sea views from spacious, separated seating
As soon as I walked in, I was surprised by how much larger it was than I expected. The tables were separated into different areas, so we could eat comfortably without feeling too close to the next table.

The restaurant was spacious and tidy overall, and it also had separate group tables, so it looked like a good option for family gatherings or visits with several people. Best of all, the window side overlooks the Marine City sea, which was the biggest plus—you can enjoy an ocean view along with your meal.

Because the restaurant is so large, the tables were fairly well spaced too, so it never felt cramped while we ate. At the sea-facing tables, you can enjoy not only the food but also the view outside, making it a nice place for a relaxed meal. On a clear day, I think you could really make the most of the ocean view. It had an easygoing atmosphere for a family visit or a meal with a group as well.

Review-event fried dumplings and our order
We also received fried dumplings through a review event. They were nicely crisp and easy to have as a little extra midway through the meal. The outside was golden and crunchy, while the filling was moist, so the contrast in texture was nice too. It was great that we could try them through the review event without ordering them separately, and there was a suitable amount to share like a side dish when visiting with several people. If you like dumplings as a side when eating Chinese food, the review event may be worth trying. They were easy to pick up one at a time and enjoy alongside the meal without feeling heavy.

That day, we ordered black-vinegar pork loin tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork, small), spicy pepper gan-jjajang (dry-style black bean noodles), jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), and seafood jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup).

How did the spicy pepper gan-jjajang differ from classic jjajangmyeon?
The spicy pepper gan-jjajang was personally the dish that stayed with me most from this meal. The peppers added a gentle kick compared with regular jjajang, making it less rich and pairing well with the deep flavor of the black bean sauce. Once I mixed the sauce into the noodles, that subtle heat came through and kept me going back for more.

We ordered classic jjajangmyeon too, and comparing it with the spicy pepper gan-jjajang made their different charms really clear. If you prefer familiar, comforting jjajangmyeon without heat, I would recommend the classic version; if you want something a little bolder and spicier, go for the spicy pepper gan-jjajang.

Sharing seafood jjamppong and black-vinegar tangsuyuk too
We also ordered seafood jjamppong, something you just cannot skip at a Chinese restaurant. The seafood gave the broth a clean, refreshing flavor, and it made a good pairing with the jjajang dishes. Alternating between the gently sweet jjajangmyeon and the warming jjamppong broth made me think it would be great for a group to order a variety of dishes and share.

The black-vinegar pork loin tangsuyuk stood out first for its sauce, which had the distinctive tangy yet deep flavor of black vinegar, unlike regular tangsuyuk. The pork loin was not too thin and had a satisfying chew, while the small size did not feel like too much alongside the other dishes. If you enjoy sweet-and-tangy tangsuyuk, I think you will enjoy it.
Overall, Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch seemed like a good place for a family meal or dinner with friends, with its spacious interior, separated seating, group tables, and Marine City ocean view. If you visit with several people, I would especially recommend ordering a variety of jjajang, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk to share. If you want Chinese dishes while looking out at the sea in Marine City, it is worth a visit. A Marine City and Haeundae favorite, approved!
