Busan jjamppong restaurant with mini crunchy tangsuyuk: Songjeong Dol
In short
Songjeong Dol Jjamppong is a stone-plate jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) restaurant on the first floor of the Songjeong food street in Haeundae, Busan. Arriving right at opening, the writer ordered the medium dol jjamppong with whole octopus instead of whole squid, added a mini crunchy tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), and finished the bean sprout- and seafood-packed stone plate down to the scorched rice at the bottom. With self-serve green onion kimchi and a yogurt after the meal, Songjeong Dol Jjamppong is the jjamppong spot to beat in Songjeong.

Where is Songjeong Dol Jjamppong, and is there parking?
Songjeong Dol Jjamppong is a Chinese restaurant on the first floor of 67 Songjeonggwanggogol-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan, right on the Songjeong food street. Being on the first floor makes it easy to find, and parking was convenient too — there's space for 2-3 cars right in front, plus a free lot just ahead.
Today's spot is a famous Chinese restaurant in Haeundae, Busan! A famous jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) restaurant in Busan!! It's Songjeong Dol Jjamppong :)

Songjeong Dol Jjamppong

Here's the entrance to Songjeong Dol Jjamppong. It's well-known enough to have appeared on TV many times — a genuinely famous place! It shouldn't get too well known though... I want to keep it to myself haha! Just kidding! That's just how good it is.

For parking, there's a small space out front like this, and usually people just use the Songjeong lot right in front instead of a dedicated lot. They don't seem to charge a separate fee for it.

I understand it's been on MBC's Bravo program and various other shows. It's been featured on Live Broadcast Today, Saengsaeng Jeongbotong, and so many other programs! That's how trustworthy and genuinely good this place is!! I walked in with high expectations haha.

Seating and opening-time atmosphere at Songjeong Dol Jjamppong
Songjeong Dol Jjamppong's dining room is clean and the seats are plentiful. The center is mostly set up for group tables, while the window side is set up mainly for couples or tables of four. Just sit wherever feels comfortable.
We visited right at opening time, and there were already a lot of people at the window seats, and about 30 minutes later even the hall tables were full! There are baby chairs too, so it looked like a good spot to visit with kids!
'Even a bowl of jjamppong deserves to be treated like Chanel...' — nice line! Enjoy it as carefully as you'd treasure a Chanel bag.

They're also running a Naver review event. You get a handmade cheong ade (green grape or grapefruit) worth ₩5,000, so make sure to join in and try it!

How to order the medium dol jjamppong with whole octopus added
Ordering at Songjeong Dol Jjamppong is easy with table order (tablet ordering). There's a wide range of individual dishes, but the set menu combinations are also really good~!!! I tend to prefer set menus since adding a side dish to the main always makes things feel more filling and satisfying, and Songjeong Dol Jjamppong in Busan has a variety of set menus each with a side that's too delicious to rank against the others, so just pick whatever suits your taste!!
We agonized hard between dol jjajang and dol jjamppong... but the main event has to be dol jjamppong, right? Haha. What we ordered was the dol jjamppong (medium) + whole squid add-on + mini crunchy tangsuyuk! There's even a detailed guide on how to best enjoy dol jjamppong, so I read it carefully before ordering :)

Because of limited sales, they cap the number of bowls served on weekdays and weekends. I think that's exactly why the jjamppong stays this chewy, clean-tasting, and delicious. I'd recommend visiting early...

Yogurt is also prepared as a dessert after the meal, so be sure to have it for dessert.

Don't skip the self-serve green onion kimchi
Simple pickled radish and onion come as the basic side dishes! And then Songjeong Dol Jjamppong's secret weapon!!!! Head to the self-serve bar for the green onion kimchi — make sure to grab some and try it! It was really good. Highly recommend the green onion kimchi!
How does the dol jjamppong with whole octopus taste?
Ta-da! It's finally here. Steam rising off an incredibly generous, jaw-dropping dol jjamppong!!! The spicy-sweet aroma wafting up really got my appetite going~!!!! The dol jjamppong came loaded with a big whole octopus and a huge pile of bean sprouts — genuinely filling!
I briefly debated whole octopus versus long-arm octopus for the add-on, but it seemed like most people order whole octopus~! I figured it'd be tender and savory, so I went with whole octopus and the result was: totally satisfied!!

After admiring the visuals for a moment, you need to stir the bean sprouts around while it's hot so they cook nicely!! They also cut the whole octopus into bite-sized pieces! I was surprised how much varied, generous seafood was packed into the dol jjamppong! Lots of my beloved scallops and all sorts of seafood, so it was fun picking through it all the way to the end! The quality almost made me wonder if the price was too cheap.

Why the mini crunchy tangsuyuk is worth adding
While the bean sprouts cooked gently, I tried the crunchy tangsuyuk!! Wow..... the batter was so crispy while the meat inside was so tender!! And the sauce was the real kicker....!!!! If you go to Songjeong Dol Jjamppong, definitely add the crunchy tangsuyuk — you won't regret it.

Broth-soaked noodles and the scorched rice at the bottom
Once the noodles and bean sprouts mix together in a delicious collaboration, the meal properly begins!! Songjeong Dol Jjamppong's noodles really soak up the broth, giving them a deep yet moist flavor that left quite an impression — this place isn't famous for nothing......

Shrimp, squid, scallops and more — you can eat your fill of fresh, generous seafood!

And the highlight of Songjeong Dol Jjamppong!! Gently scraping up the scorched rice at the bottom and eating it together with the broth it's soaked up is the real kicker — the perfect finishing touch!!
Final verdict on Songjeong Dol Jjamppong
Songjeong Dol Jjamppong in Busan is the kind of spot where a wait on weekends seems inevitable. It's such a genuine best-of-the-best restaurant that no one visits just once, so if you're looking for a great place to eat in Songjeong, I definitely recommend giving it a try :)
