Today I want to introduce a jokbal (pork trotters) place I enjoyed with my boys at home! When eating out with kids, you naturally end up looking for menus they'll actually eat, but this time I was the one craving jokbal, so I went hunting for it~

Where is Sasang Paldo Jokbal, the jokbal spot near Silla University?
Sasang Paldo Jokbal is located at 713 Baegyang-daero, 1F, Sasang-gu, Busan. It's across the main road from Namyeong Tongdak, famous for curry fried chicken 🤗
It's not delivery-only — they run a full dine-in restaurant, so I was able to visit and eat there with the kids!

The Sasang Paldo Jokbal menu: why we chose the half-and-half jokbal
Sasang Paldo Jokbal offers a variety of jokbal options, and since they have a half-and-half that lets you enjoy plain jokbal and spicy jokbal (bulljokbal) together, that's what we ordered this time! Some people love plain jokbal, others love the spicy kick, so when it's a shame to pick just one, half-and-half is the way to go.
They also had an origin-labeling board and baby chairs ready!
The interior was clean and the owner was really kind, which I loved!

As soon as we ordered, they laid out a whole spread of side dishes
They gave us a nice variety that goes well with jokbal — pickled radish (ssammu), dried radish strips, pickled onions, and more — and if you run out, there's a self-serve corner where you can grab more 👍🏻
Oh, and there were also wrap greens for making ssam (wraps) at the self-serve bar
And they served siraegiguk (dried radish green soup) too~ The kids said the soup was delicious and ate it right up. A real side-dish champion in Sasang, Deokpo 😁
If you take part in the review event, you get either bibim makguksu (spicy buckwheat noodles) or ddukbaegi eomuk-tang (fish cake hot pot)
How big is the large half-and-half jokbal?
Since there were four of us (2 adults, 2 kids), we ordered the large half-and-half jokbal
The moment the half-and-half arrived, the first thing I noticed was — this is seriously generous!
The meat was piled on generously and plated so appetizingly that just looking at it made my mouth water
What I especially liked was that jokbal sometimes ends up being mostly a big bone, but Sasang Paldo Jokbal had plenty of meat and almost no large bones — I loved that
Even better with the vegetables, and just as good wrapped up in ssam — this jokbal near Silla University really delivers
The spicy jokbal that won me over: more than just heat
In our half-and-half, the spicy jokbal (bulljokbal) was honestly the menu I ordered for myself!
My two sons mostly went for the plain jokbal, while my husband and I focused on the spicy one! The spicy jokbal's distinctive hot-yet-savory sauce soaked into the meat so well that one bite made you want another 🔥
It wasn't just spicy for the sake of being spicy — the chewy texture of the jokbal and the flavor of the sauce came together really well!
The kind owner even gave the kids some snacks, which boosted their mood even more 😍

A family dinner that satisfied both my sons! The kids ate really well and happily, and I got to enjoy the spicy jokbal too, so overall it was a satisfying meal 🤗
