🥩 ANSAN Suamgol Jjokgalbi Maeul, Hanyang University at Ansan Station branch ▼▼
My husband and I love jjokgalbi (pork rib) and we're always on the hunt for good ones, so when we heard there was a spot near Hanyang University at Ansan Station with a wide variety, we went together.
Today I'm sharing Suamgol Jjokgalbi Maeul's Hanyang University at Ansan Station branch, known as a go-to meat restaurant near the station — the place is packed even on weekdays!
Where is Suamgol Jjokgalbi Maeul, and where do you park?

Inside Suamgol Jjokgalbi Maeul and the outdoor tables out front

Walking in, the place was buzzing with customers even on a weekday.
The space was bigger than I expected with plenty of tables, so it looked great not just for a family meal but also for group gatherings or work dinners.
There were folding doors along the front, which made the inside feel even more open, and with the doors fully open the ventilation was great too.
There were also tables set up outside the restaurant. If you're looking for a spot with outdoor seating near Hanyang University at Ansan Station, this is worth a visit :)
Jjokgalbi menu and prices: five flavors at 18,000 won a serving

Once seated, we checked the menu — jjokgalbi came in five flavors: salt, BBQ, garlic, spicy, and crazy. ▼▼
You need to order at least 2 servings of jjokgalbi, but you can mix flavors one serving at a time!
Free side dishes and steamed egg for 4,000 won

After we ordered, a spread of side dishes came out — salad, stir-fried fish cake, green onion kimchi, and more.

If you wanted more, there was a self-serve bar so you could take as much as you liked, which was convenient.

We also ordered steamed egg to go with the jjokgalbi. The portion was quite generous for the price, more than enough for the two of us, and it paired well with the spicy jjokgalbi by cutting the heat :)
Ordering one serving each of spicy and BBQ jjokgalbi
Spicy jjokgalbi, 1 serving ₩18,000 / BBQ jjokgalbi, 1 serving ₩18,000

We ordered one serving each of spicy jjokgalbi and BBQ jjokgalbi. Since it's cooked in the kitchen right after ordering, it took about 15 minutes to arrive.

Each serving comes with about 6–7 pieces, and the portion was quite generous so we didn't feel short-changed at all :)

Ordering jjokgalbi also comes with soft tofu stew as standard, so you don't need to order stew separately, and they refilled the broth when it ran low — very generous.

How spicy is the spicy jjokgalbi? Fine for weak spice eaters?
Now it was time to actually eat. Since the jjokgalbi comes fully cooked over charcoal, there's no need to grill it at the table — you can dig in right away.
I tried the spicy jjokgalbi first — there was plenty of meat on the bone, and it wasn't tough at all, so the meat pulled off easily.

I can't handle spicy food very well, but this level of heat was totally manageable and delicious — I think even spice wimps could enjoy it!

The spicy flavor was so addictive we ordered an extra serving -!! Even one serving is pretty generous, right?
BBQ jjokgalbi: sweet-and-salty and good with kids

Next we tried the BBQ jjokgalbi, which had that classic sweet-and-salty flavor.

The sauce soaked well into the meat, so the more you chewed, the more the sweet-salty flavor came through — a different charm from the spicy one, and switching back and forth between the two kept things interesting.

The BBQ flavor is a crowd-pleaser for all ages, so if you're visiting with kids, I'd recommend ordering the BBQ jjokgalbi.

After the meal, you also get free ice cream, so don't forget to save room for dessert!
