Dangsan craft beer bar with 29 taps and fries: Long Time No See

In short

Long Time No See Dangsan Branch is a self-tap craft beer bar on the 2nd and 3rd floors of an alley near Exit 12 of Dangsan Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. On a weekday evening second round, tagging a wristband at the taps let us pour any of 29 craft beers in 10ml increments and pair them with fries, with free popcorn refills at the self-zone. Long Time No See is an easy pick for tasting many beers in small pours, though the 72-hour fermented dough pizza went untried once again.

Long Time No See Dangsan Branch is a craft beer bar near Dangsan Station said to be born from the meeting of a beer craftsman and a pizza craftsman. They serve 29 different craft beers along with pizza made with dough fermented for 72 hours, so I went back for another visit. But since this was again a round-two stop, I sadly couldn't have the pizza and just enjoyed fries and beer instead haha.

Where is Long Time No See Dangsan Branch, and what is it like on a weekday?

Long Time No See Dangsan Branch is located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of a building on the right, in the first alley you reach after passing Daiso from Exit 12 of Dangsan Station (Line 9). If the 2nd floor is full, they'll seat you on the 3rd floor instead.

I visited on a weekday, which felt a bit more relaxed than a weekend would. The interior on the 2nd floor had a vintage finish with clean wooden furniture, making it a comfortable spot for a casual drink with friends.

How to pour your own beer from the 29 taps

Long Time No See Dangsan Branch runs on a self-order system where you tag your phone at the table to order easily. They'll bring you a menu too, but after picking your side dish, you can tag the wristband you got at entry onto the beer machine and pour whichever craft beer you like yourself.

With as many as 29 craft beers to choose from, it was fun picking out ones I hadn't tried before. Besides craft beer, they also had soju, Cass beer, and sparkling water.

The beer glasses are also self-serve — you can choose between room-temperature glasses or chilled ones from the fridge, which I liked.

A tap screen showing beer descriptions and price per 10ml

Each beer tap displayed a description of the beer and the price per 10ml. Tagging your wristband changed the screen, and

the amount poured and the cost showed up right away. Being able to pour as much or as little as you want without worry, especially when you want to taste several kinds a bit at a time, is one of the fun parts of Long Time No See. The cost of the beer you order keeps accumulating on your table's tab and you pay it all at once when you leave.

What's in the self-zone: popcorn refills and hutgae tea

Popcorn comes as the basic side dish, and once you finish it, you can refill it yourself at the self-zone.

The self-zone had most of what you'd need — not just popcorn but napkins, wet wipes, personal plates, and sauces. It was a bit unusual that instead of plain water, they had hutgae tea (oriental raisin tree tea) prepared.

Fries instead of the 72-hour dough pizza, again

Last time I visited Long Time No See, I also came for round two and missed out on the pizza. So I told myself I'd definitely have pizza next time...

But since this was once again a round-two visit, I ended up ordering fries instead of pizza haha.

Fries served with two dipping sauces

Two sauces came together with the fries, and being freshly fried and warm, I couldn't figure out why they tasted so good. Even though I was already pretty full, I kept reaching for the warm, crispy fries. Next time, I really need to visit for round one and finally try the pizza made with that 72-hour fermented dough.

What to do if your beer pours too foamy

Pouring the beer myself at Long Time No See Dangsan Branch, I found it a bit tricky to control the amount at first. Apparently, if your beer comes out with too much foam, you can call over a staff member for help. I didn't know that and just drank it as it was haha.

If it's your first time and you end up with a lot of foam while pouring, just ask a staff member for help.

A self-order kiosk near the entrance for takeout orders

On the way out, I also spotted a self-order kiosk exclusively for takeout — apparently you can order to take out, not just eat in. With plenty of craft beers to pick according to your taste and plenty of sides like pizza and fries that pair well with beer, it seemed like a good spot to drop by for a simple drink.

The weekday evening atmosphere at Long Time No See Dangsan Branch

This place would suit anyone who wants to taste a little bit of many different beers. It's also nice for a light pizza-and-beer or chicken-and-beer session, for a simple drink, or when looking for a slightly different spot for a work dinner or gathering.
