Inside Hotel Kukdo Patio: group tables and why you should reserve

Buffet hall interior with high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows

Overall, the ceilings are high and the walls are floor-to-ceiling windows, so the atmosphere itself was pretty great.

Patio seating filled with lunch guests

I went with a Naver Reservation booking, and I'm glad I did — it would've been a disaster otherwise. Most of the guests were either office workers from around Eulji-ro or people like us there for group gatherings.

Generously spaced buffet tables

There are more tables than you'd expect, too. Group seating is set up toward the back.

It's not quite full luxury-hotel vibes, but for what it is, the space felt quite clean and tidy.

How much is the lunch buffet at Hotel Kukdo Patio?

Sign listing the Asian buffet price

The Asian buffet price at this budget-friendly Seoul hotel buffet, Hotel Kukdo Patio, is ₩29,800 for adults. It only runs on weekdays, from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm for lunch. You might think that's a bit pricey for lunch, but with two types of unlimited sake plus a main dish of either beef or pasta, it actually seems like great value.

What is on the Hotel Kukdo Patio buffet menu?

So let's take a look at what's actually on offer.

Green salad and mushroom salad corner

Green salad, mushroom salad. Grapefruit, kiwi, rice cakes. When the fruit runs out, they refill it with other kinds — the kiwi disappeared and got replaced with pineapple, and honestly I ate both the kiwi and the pineapple. Haha.

Two coffee machines

There are two coffee machines.

Drink corner with teabags and juice

There are also teabags, and the juices are apple and tangerine.

On one side there's a section with a strong Japanese feel, with a soba (buckwheat noodle) corner, plus udon and fish cake skewers.

Build-your-own miso and soy ramen corner

And uniquely, you can cook your own miso ramen and soy ramen right there. Isn't that great?

And this place has unlimited sake! Plus unlimited matcha too.

There's a Korean food section on one side as well.

Korean food corner with rice and kimchi

Rice, seasoned laver, pickled vegetables, lotus root, kimchi, and more.

Moving to the main dishes, there's stir-fried udon.

There's also grilled shrimp and abalone.

Plate of grilled shrimp and abalone

Chicken teriyaki, butagakuni (braised pork belly), monkfish, grilled eel, kushikatsu (fried skewers), and futomaki — that covers all the all-you-can-eat items on the Hotel Kukdo Asian buffet menu!

Buchaesal flat iron steak and tomato seafood pasta

Galbi-sal steak ordered one per person

This is the galbi-sal (flat-iron beef) steak, one of the items you can order one per person.

Cross-section of galbi-sal steak with sauce

The sauce wasn't too strong, so it didn't overpower the natural flavor of the beef.

A tender piece of galbi-sal steak

The meat was quite tender too, so even the older folks in our group enjoyed it.

Tomato seafood pasta, the alternate main course

Instead of the steak, the other main course option was tomato seafood pasta.

Pasta packed with large squid and shrimp

The squid and shrimp pieces were pretty generously sized, and the flavor seemed like a safe, crowd-pleasing choice that shouldn't divide opinions much.

A plate piled with buffet dishes

How the food tasted, dish by dish

The buffet doesn't have a huge number of dishes, but each one felt like it had care put into it.

Grilled eel done gochujang-style

The grilled eel was done gochujang-style, and it clearly took more effort than expected. The monkfish and other meat dishes were also seasoned just right and pretty good overall.

Lightly seasoned meat and fish dishes

The seasoning wasn't heavy or overpowering, so it was easy to eat without feeling weighed down.

Kushikatsu skewers with different fillings

The kushikatsu skewers all have different fillings inside, and eating them hot is a real treat. The hot matcha was also nice to drink.

And I think I understand now why the sake is unlimited. One sip of sake and your palate feels completely refreshed. Matcha does the trick too, if you skip the sake. The soba was great too. I also tried cooking the soy ramen myself, and it turned out to be genuinely fun. Fun and tasty(?)
