Yangju marinated pork rib restaurant, self-bar refills: Manpo Galbi
In short
Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch is a handmade marinated pork rib (galbi) restaurant on Songnang-ro in Yangju, Gyeonggi. The writer booked through Naver Reservation for a late weekend lunch with her mother, took a 2nd-floor seat and ordered three servings of handmade Korean pork galbi, brisket doenjang stew and rice for a total of 64,000 won, with naengmyeon, yukhoe (raw beef) and yukjeon (beef pancake) served free. A date day with mom for the first time in a while! I was craving sweet-savory seasoned galbi (marinated ribs), so I headed to Manpo Galbi, a well-known restaurant in Yangju ✨ With free naengmyeon and yukhoe (raw beef) served whenever you order meat, plus a comfortable space, it was the perfect spot for a family meal out.

Inside Manpo Galbi: a two-floor building with free parking out front
I searched "Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch" in navigation and arrived quickly. It's a standalone duplex building with plenty of free parking out front, so there was no need to worry about parking at all.

Unlike a typical Korean BBQ place, the interior felt comfortable — no smoke or lingering smell. Even with plenty of seating across both floors, there was a wait even for a weekend late lunch, true to its reputation as a hot spot in Yangju!

Since we'd made a reservation in advance, we were luckily shown straight to the 2nd floor. Up there, the tables are bigger than downstairs and there's a private room, so there were noticeably many families like ours. It's a Korean BBQ place with a casual yet tidy feel — I think older folks especially would love the space ✨
Menu and order: 64,000 won for three at Manpo Galbi
Manpo Galbi is a Yangju restaurant whose name means "to give generously," and it's true to that name — a naengmyeon (cold noodles) per person comes free with a meat order. On weekdays they even sell a lunch special that includes doenjang sulbap (rice with doenjang soup), so you can enjoy an even more budget-friendly meal.
- Handmade Korean pork galbi x3 servings, ₩19,000 per person
- Brisket doenjang stew ₩6,000
- Rice ₩1,000
- 💵 Total: ₩64,000
Side dishes and the self-bar: even yukhoe and yukjeon come free
For basic side dishes, we were served mu saengchae (spicy radish salad), potato salad, scallion salad, gochu-doenjang muchim, and jangajji (pickles) — a winning combo alongside seasoned galbi.

And that's not all — things you'd normally have to order as side dishes elsewhere, like black sesame salad and fresh yukjeon (pan-fried beef) and yukhoe, all came included, so we got to enjoy a really plentiful meal.

Aside from the yukhoe and yukjeon, all the other side dishes could be refilled freely from the self-bar set up on one side, no need to feel self-conscious about it ✨
How does Manpo Galbi's handmade Korean pork galbi taste?
Today's star, the handmade Korean pork galbi, came out marinated in a homemade sauce packed with 7 kinds of fruits and vegetables.

You grill the meat yourself, and the charcoal heat was just right — it grilled up nicely without burning easily, and staff kept checking and swapping the grill plate for us, which was really convenient.

The sweet-savory smell wafting off the grill got the saliva flowing, and the seasoned galbi also showed off a glossy, mouthwatering look ✨
Need I say more about the texture — it was really tender, with the subtly sweet marinade soaked in throughout, so it never got tiring and my hand kept reaching back for more. It'd been a while since I'd had galbi, and it was so good I basically devoured it like a runaway pony.
Brisket doenjang stew, 6,000 won
The doenjang stew, loaded with brisket and vegetables, had a deep flavor from the vegetable and meat stock, and was pleasantly spicy — a real standout. Mixing rice into the hot broth with the ingredients was an absolute rice thief!
Free naengmyeon: cold broth or spicy, your choice

The free naengmyeon, one bowl per person, could be chosen as bibim (spicy mixed) or mul (cold broth). I went with bibim, and the icy broth topped with bright red sauce made my mouth water the moment I saw it.

As appetizing as it looked, it tasted just as spicy-and-tangy and delicious, and the house-made noodles really brought out a chewy texture. The portion was pretty generous for something that comes free, so by the end of the meal my whole family was patting our bellies, saying we were about to burst 🫠
Dessert at Manpo Galbi: bbeong ice cream and instant coffee

On the way out after finishing our meal, there was an ice cream machine and a coffee machine, so we got to cleanse our palates with sweet bbeong-scream (puffed-rice soft serve) and mix coffee.
Manpo Galbi, a Yangju Korean BBQ restaurant that gives you a variety of side dishes plus free naengmyeon and yukhoe when you order seasoned galbi 🤍 My mom, who's pretty particular about food, was quite satisfied with this place, so if you're looking for a Yangju restaurant to take your parents to, I'd recommend giving it a try!
