600g pork platter for two sisters at a Geomdan charcoal-grill

Euljiro Yeontan Gui Majeon Branch is a charcoal-grill pork restaurant in Geomdan, Incheon, with an old-school neighborhood diner vibe. The writer and her older sister ordered the ₩35,900 pork platter (600g) plus a ₩4,900 bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles), and the 600g turned out to be so generous for two that they left some hangjeongsal and galmaegisal behind. Friendly owners, great prices, and huge portions — this Geomdan pork restaurant is a keeper.

Mixing the 12-hour-aged shrimp soy sauce with a soft-boiled egg yolk into the rice was the highlight, and with a solo-dining zone and a kids' chair on hand, it worked well no matter who you brought along.

Visiting at 2pm with her mom, the writer ordered egg benedict, shakshuka with grain bread, an almond cream latte and an americano — right before the brunch menu sold out for the day. The shakshuka carries a double chili-pepper spice rating on the menu but stayed mild enough even for a self-proclaimed spice wimp, making it a solid family brunch pick.

Mirim Yangjang (미림양장) Gwangalli branch is a Chinese-style bar in Suyeong, Busan, that took over the name of an old tailor's shop that once stood in its place. It's a Gwangalli spot that works equally well for a work dinner or a date, since the dishes are made for sharing.
