Late 2pm brunch: shakshuka and egg benedict at Eggroom, Anyang
In short
Eggroom is an egg-focused brunch café tucked inside Dongpyeon Village in Gwanyang-dong, Anyang, Gyeonggi. Visiting at 2pm with her mom, the writer ordered egg benedict, shakshuka with grain bread, an almond cream latte and an americano — right before the brunch menu sold out for the day. The shakshuka carries a double chili-pepper spice rating on the menu but stayed mild enough even for a self-proclaimed spice wimp, making it a solid family brunch pick.

A good brunch spot in Dongpyeon Village: "Eggroom" I visited a brunch place in Dongpyeon Village, Anyang! Had a relaxed brunch date with my mom 🙂
Eggroom's exterior in Dongpyeon Village, Anyang

Eggroom sits tucked inside Dongpyeon Village. With floor-to-ceiling windows, a white parasol and awning, it feels like a bright café from the outside.

There are tables and chairs set up outside too, and with the flowerbeds and trees it looks almost like a little garden — seems like a great spot to sit outside on a nice day!

Several Fritz (프릳츠) logos are posted at the entrance, along with a tablet for waitlist registration.
Seating and atmosphere inside

The interior is calm, mostly ivory and white, with tables for two and four — fine for a solo visit or a small get-together.
Little touches of decor and stickers scattered around give it a cozy, comfortable feel!

The light is good even further inside, so you can still see the outdoor parasol and greenery, blending naturally with the indoor lighting.
One side has an arched nook — the first thing you notice walking in — with sofa seating that gives a strong sense of a separated space, which seemed great for small gatherings haha.
In front of the arched nook, they've set out water, pickles, and blankets for you to grab.
The restroom key was so cute I had to snap a photo. It's a golden fried-chicken-shaped key, and the restroom right next to it is nice and clean too!
The menu

Here's Eggroom's brunch and drinks menu — true to the name, there are plenty of egg-based dishes! Even the signature drinks menu had an 🍳 Egg Cream Latte styled around eggs.

Not on the menu board, but next to the counter they also sell cookies and butter bars, plus a meringue pavlova cake.

Is the brunch menu still available at 2pm?
Brunch technically means eating during the late-morning hours, but I showed up at 2pm — more like late lunch — so unfortunately there weren't many brunch options left. Not brunch, more like... lunch-ish?🤔 So instead of the pasta I'd picked out, I ordered something else! Right after I ordered, the brunch menu sold out completely haha.
What we ordered and the prices

- Egg Benedict (₩15,000)
- Shakshuka with grain bread (₩16,000)
- Americano (₩4,000)
- Almond cream latte (₩5,600)
- = ₩40,600

Shortly after ordering, they brought out the drinks along with plates and cutlery.

Almond Cream Latte
For the almond cream latte, they told us to read the little card — it explained that you should scoop the cream off with a spoon first, then mix it in and drink it from the cup, and that they use dairy (animal-based) cream.
The almond cream really was sweet and delicious — my mom, who picked this drink, kept praising how soft and sweet it was 😂

The americano was clean, no sourness, not bitter. It came in a cup with a fried egg printed on it haha.
Egg Benedict
Next up: the egg benedict and the shakshuka with grain bread. Here's the egg benedict — it comes with 2 pieces, plus mini king oyster mushroom and shrimp. Poached egg, arugula, and hollandaise sauce sit on top of the bread, and the sauce is tangy and salty, pairing well haha. You can also add an extra piece, or add house-made basil pesto, according to the menu.

The chewy sautéed king oyster mushrooms and the softly cooked shrimp had great texture.
Bursting the poached egg, slicing through the bread, lining up the arugula and shrimp on top — brunch, done 👍🏻

And then I look up and see the picky eater picking out every green leaf. 🍅: Mom, why aren't you eating the arugula? 👩🏻: I like meat. Well... she's a grown adult, can't exactly tell her to eat her greens to grow up big and strong 🤷🏻♀️

Shakshuka with grain bread — how spicy is it, really?
Here's the shakshuka with grain bread. It's marked with 🌶️🌶️ (two chilies) like an eggs-in-hell dish, so I thought it might be pretty spicy, but it's a level any Korean could handle without trouble! I'm a total spice wimp and it wasn't too spicy for me 😉 Basically, spicy enough that you just shouldn't feed it to a baby.

The grain bread had a texture a bit softer than Outback's bushman bread — a perfect match to eat alongside.

There was plenty of egg and bacon in the dish, so it was easy to scoop up and eat with the bread.
Wrapping up
Eggroom — a brunch café where I got to fill up on good food and unwind in a cozy space with my mom. If you want to enjoy brunch in Dongpyeon Village, this place is worth a visit 🙂 Next time I want to try the signature lasagna!
