Guro izakaya skewer platter, yurinki and vanilla cheese ice cream

Today I'm meeting a friend for drinks and skewers in Guro — it's been ages since I've had a drink here haha. I was debating where to go, but I really wanted skewers with beer, so I picked this place. Where is it, you ask? Robatayaki Sodam.

Getting there from Guro Digital Complex Station

Robatayaki Sodam is a 5-minute walk from Exit 2 of Guro Digital Complex Station. It's on the 2nd floor right above Dolbaegijip. The big sign reading 'Sodam' makes it easy to spot!

Climbed the stairs up to the 2nd floor, huffing and puffing, and arrived~~

The place looked small from outside but it went back really deep — genuinely big inside. It looked like it could easily seat 80 people!!

Bar counter recommended, reservation a must on Friday nights

I'd recommend the bar counter seats. It might get a little warm, but you can watch the skewers being grilled right in front of you, plus the flame show!!

I reserved for Friday 7pm and visited — wow,,,, every seat was completely full. If I hadn't reserved I honestly might have had to wait, phew,,, everyone, Naver Reservation is available so definitely book ahead~~~~

The menu is really varied. From skewers to grilled fish, specialty dishes, seafood — so much variety.

The two of us ordered the mixed skewer platter and yurinki! From the bar counter seats you can watch them grilling the skewers and fish like this.

Ta-da~~~~~~~ the mixed skewer platter came out first.

The mixed skewers included shrimp butter grill, chicken skewer, chicken thigh, ginkgo nuts, king oyster mushroom, bacon cheese rice cake, bacon tomato, chicken heart, garlic and more. Seriously too many kinds to even list.

Ooh~~ the skewers weren't overcooked at all, done just right!! And because they're grilled over charcoal the juices were seriously packed in with a subtle smoky flavor — genuinely delicious!!! The chicken skewer was amazing, the bacon tomato was amazing, the king oyster mushroom was amazing too!! Honestly nothing here wasn't good, so I'd recommend going for the mixed platter~~~

Can't skip the alcohol with this~ cold draft beer, drink up. Ahh!!!! Since so many people come here, the draft beer is genuinely delicious!! You know how draft beer tastes better and fresher at busy places, right?

Ooh? The sauce is sweet and tangy, really good. There's chili sprinkled on top so it's slightly spicy. And it's even better eaten with the cabbage underneath!! The cabbage tames the spice while soaking up the sauce — delicious! No wonder it's the signature menu item.

Vanilla cheese ice cream from the receipt review event

They have a Naver receipt review event here, and apparently you get vanilla cheese ice cream?!

Wow,,,, everyone, make sure you order the vanilla cheese ice cream. The cheese and vanilla ice cream on top are so harmonious! The cheese is slightly salty while the ice cream is sweet, so it's the perfect sweet-and-salty combo!! And the vanilla ice cream doesn't taste cheap at all — genuinely smooth and delicious!

How was it as a spot for drinks and skewers in Guro?

So today I introduced this izakaya on Guro's Kkalkkal-geori street — it was really great for drinks and skewers, and finishing off with dessert made it perfect!! The food wasn't salty either, quite mild and light so nothing felt heavy!
